Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc. It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.

Great little settlement - the Clay Cliffs were spectacular and a definite must-see. The Hot Tubs were so lovely afterwards - very private and in a peaceful outdoor setting. Absolutely loved them. Had a meal at the local pub which was also very good.

There are two places to eat in the village.

There are two places to eat in the village. A hotel which caters for tour parties. The bufet looked average. The ala carte menue, which looks interesting is not available every night (barman said). It was available when I was there, but the staff seamed very reluctant to offer it. The steak was limp (looked like it had been cooked in a sous vide, but not flash fried at a high enough temperature) and everything was way, way over salted!!! I was Would not recomend it. The pub was lovely, good food, great staff and welcoming. Would recomend it.

It was a spur of the moment booking as we had a problem with our car. Great hotel for overnight or several days. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms if a bit "tired". Arrived late and left early so didn't eat on the premises.

A pleasant, quiet place to get away from the 'madding crowd'! I love the scenery and climate there and the locals we met were friendly and helpful. I recommend The Pink Glider for a meal as well as the kebab truck on the highway. Both have super staff and good food. Omarama provides a really pleasant holiday get away.

The location was awesome, around 10 minutes from Omarama. The room was cozy with a soft queen sized bed. There was a long drop to the right of our room as well as normal toilets and bathrooms to the left which had heating so it was warm even on a frosty morning. Everything you need and expect from a backpackers could be found in the kitchen and dining area, overall we had a great experience here!

We stayed at Sierra Motel as a stopover between Dunedin and Christchurch. The location is beautiful, especially the drive along SH8 past Lake Pukaki with wonderful views of Mount Aoraki. Our room was spacious, comfortable, with a modern kitchenette, very comfortable bed and everything was spotlessly clean.

Did not have breakfast as made our own tea and toast. Location ok as Omarama is not big and easy access to the towns facilities.
