We enjoyed the Festival of Lights at Pukekura Park, the coastal walkway and the mueum and Govett Brewster gallery. We found one great cafe for beakfast or lunch which was Wild Pear. All of these were top class. We enjoyed also the hydrangea park, Turea.

Our main reason for staying in New Plymouth was to visit/see Mount Taranaki, and we weren't disappointed. We had amazing views of the mountain as we drove into town on a clear blue sky day, the next day we travelled to the mountain in rain which cleared just as we arrived, so fortunate.
The coastal walkway is a great asset for the town, and makes for a great evening walk.
The West End Precinct has a great atmosphere for casual dining and drinks.

we have visited NP over the years and really like it.
we have visited NP over the years and really like it. Its a small city but plenty to do and doesn't cost a fortune. Cycle along walkway, climb paritutu rock, indoor /outdoorswimming pool. New childrens area being developed.
Although small there is a mall with nice eating places. you can go to the valley where the big shops like Mitre 10, Rebel sport etc are.
Pukeiti park is a must visit and certainly at Christmas with the Christmas lights.
Close to Mountain walking tramping. drive a fair way up.

Had not been to this city before, and while quite a long drive to get there, I really liked it. Good two-way road system in the downtown area, fantastic parklands (including the music bowl), great art gallery, coastal boardwalk, and with Mt Taranaki in the background. And with the intriguing Wind Wand sculpture on the boardwalk.

New Plymouth has a lot of features to attract tourists. This high quality Devon hotel is a wonderful operating base for travellers. This was a short stay having visited family in Lower Hutt, but we previously visited during the gardens Festival. We will be back again.

If I had known about the Coastal Walkway beforehand, I would have stayed longer just to have a long distance training along it. We stayed overnight to rest for a long drive back home; didn't explore enough but brief impression about the city is good; particularly liked the well-preserved old buildings.

The room was huge and very quiet so had a good sleep. Its is a huge motel almost hotel style place. Plenty of secure parking in the middle courtyars. There was a large five star Restaurant attached whihc had a great selection of food. The room was very compfortable with sea views and a deck plus area for a lounge with couches also had desk and chair for my laptop working. There is an indoor heated swimming pool and very hot spa pool and large changing room in same area
Reception staff always welcome us with a smile and try hard to accommodate any extra requests. Excellent room, very clean, very comfy beds. We have used the Devon on many occasions and have never been disappointed. This is always our hotel of choice when visiting New Plymouth.
Room was clean and tidy. Loved the air conditioner, as the room got really warm during the night. Within walking to all the great bars and restaurants in New Plymouth. Would recommend this place. Staff were lovely and friendly.
Good location. Nice bathroom and spa bath. The bed was comfortable and there were comfortable chairs to relax in. The lighting was very good unlike a lot of motels we have visited. Lots of channels available on TV.
