Was clean and neat.
Reception was closed at 21:00 and entry was with a password. Luckily they sent it to us prior our arrival (as we paid it in full), so that we could enter easily. Otherwise it could be a challenge to figure out how to get the code to open the doors.
The first Alfred Hotels location cultivates a soft and subdued atmosphere, blending the charm of a family home with the timeless appeal of a country inn.

My husband and I had the most amazing week at the Alfred Hotel during the New Year’s holiday. From start to finish, everything about our stay exceeded expectations!
The rooms were immaculately clean, and the shower was fantastic—a true highlight after a long day of exploring. But what really set this hotel apart was the exceptional service. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.
Breakfast each morning was a delight, with a wide selection of delicious options to start the day right. Axelle, who managed the breakfast service, was incredibly accommodating and always greeted us with a warm smile. What a wonderful way to start the day!
In the evenings, the breakfast area transformed into a cozy space for dinner and drinks starting at 6 PM. What a treat! The barman, Paul, crafted the most incredible cocktail, the “Pomme de Feu”—his own creation. It was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Make sure to ask for it if you visit!
The front desk staff, particularly Nasma, was outstanding. She was so helpful, providing great recommendations and always ready to assist with a cheerful attitude.
Staying at the Alfred Hotel felt like being welcomed into a home away from home. The warm, friendly atmosphere and attention to detail made our New Year’s holiday truly special. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a perfect getaway!

Good for an overnight stay. Nice and clean. Each room has a separate entrance from the street (all ground floor, no stairs) with a parking place right in front of the door. Very practical for luggage and any back and forth to the car. Breakfast for such a place was OK, probably not the best in the world but pretty decent for a cheap hotel in France. Location is close to the malls and drive-in places nearby. Compiegne is a very little nice town worth visiting, with a nice historical center. In the surroundings there is by a big forest, nice nature, just 15 minute drive away you can visit the Pierrefonds castle (it's probably worth it even if you stay there for an onvernight stop on a long drive). Quite location, no noise from the roads or anything. Definitely worth the money we paid. This place can also work for a weekend trip from Paris.
Cit'Hotel De Harlay is located in the city center of Compiègne, just 2297 feet from Château de Compiègne. The hotel offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi internet access.
The Hostellerie du Royal Lieu is located 2 minutes from Compiègne town center, on the edge of the Laigue Domanial Forest. It offers 3-star accommodations with free Wi-Fi access.
2 or 3 days would work well
Plenty to see around the Chateau and its grounds.
Hard to get to the Armistice clearing to see the train carriage without your own car, there's no real public transport to it. But exploring the area around there could make an interesting day There's a memorial to Buchenwald that I did not get to.
The pedestrianised old town is pleasant to walk around with a great Town Hall.

It is a small nice town. You can reach all sightseeing locations by walking. It is also quite close to Paris in case you want to do a day trip to Paris. We drove back and forth, it takes around 70 minutes or so. Also you can take train. It is quite convenient.

Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice. The hotel was easy to get to, good parking and the 2 nearby restaurants also offered discount when eating there if you show proof of stay at B&B. Shower was great, room was great; clean, spacious and comfy. The hotel staff were kind and thoughtful and gave our girls little complimentary gift bags, there were also games out to play in the morning in the reception area.
Very friendly staff. We arrived late but the owner was very helpful to help us check-in ourselves. He even pre-heated the room for us. Two thumps up for this service. In the morning there was a nice breakfast with coffee, tea and hot chocolate for the kids. The room where the breakfast is being served is showing signs of the history of the hotel. I like that a lot. Fresh croissants and bread. Well done
The owners were friendly and welcoming, and are on hand if needed. The house is comfortable and clean and has all that you need for self-catering. There is also secure off-street parking.
The location is great for visiting Compiegne, including the chateau and park, on foot; and by car, for visiting the Forest of Compiegne.
