Booked 3 classic cottages. Had 2 interconnecting cottages which was very convenient.
Cottages were nicely decorated with Christmas theme.
We got the rooms nearest the playground which is plus point for the kids.
It snowed when we were staying there which was an added bonus to the Christmas feeling.
Cottages are within the Christmas village so it was all very convenient.

We loved everything about our stay - beautiful accommodations with luxury details, the most amazing staff, and great location. I used the sauna every evening and my favorite hotel bed ever. Extremely attentive hotel staff who responded to every request and inquiry within minutes - including requests that weren’t hotel-related. We were sad to leave 😁

It's a small city right in the middle of Finnland's Lapland.
It's a small city right in the middle of Finnland's Lapland. Good for chasing the aurora borealis. Santa claus village is a nice place to visit and spend some time too. People are very friendly and willing to help if you need. Be sure to visit the local museum (Arktikum) to learn more about the city's history.
I guess one week is a perfect time to be sure to watch the auroras (because you will depend on the weather conditions) and get to know the city well between these tours

It's a nice small town primarily for tourism.
It's a nice small town primarily for tourism.
It's beautiful and more like an entry point to the artic circle. Public transportation is unreliable so either rent a car or hire a taxi to go around. Also, tours can be expensive depending on the season. Last thing, if you are visiting santa clause village. Do not book any husky or reindeer ride in advance online, it's better to buy tickets directly and it's much cheaper than online.

Rovaniemi is a place you need to visit.
Rovaniemi is a place you need to visit. We had fun chasing the Auroras. And of course no one comes to Rovaniemi without visiting the Sanata Claus Village, home of Santa Claus.
It was a shame that I could not book husky rides as I was too late booking it.
We will definitely come back.

Lapland is magical, especially in the wilderness.
Lapland is magical, especially in the wilderness.
We saw the Aurora Borealis, went husky riding, went hiking in the snow and loved it all.
The landscape is beautiful. The local people we met were so helpful and friendly, lovely.
Stay out in the countryside where the light pollution will not ruin the chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
Would highly recommend getting a car and going to the Ranua Wildlife park, The Arctic Circle Hiking trail and Korouoma Waterfalls
Rovaniemi is not a very atmospheric town, very functional and grey.
Nili Lappish restaurant is fun, has a set menu and reindeer options.
The Santa Village wasn't as magical as we hoped but perhaps the Santa Place is more authentic and special but it didn't open until Nov 1st.

A brilliant Finnish location rich in culture and spirit.
A brilliant Finnish location rich in culture and spirit. From seeing the northern lights to the comfort and quality of Santa village - this is a must stay place.
So much to do and everything is well integrated.
Would recommend. It's worth planning ahead taking into account what you want. Snow? Book between Dec and March. Northern lights? SEPT or March. Anything else just look at timing. Some facilities are only open during snow season granted 95% of what you would do is open year round. The lights don't come up till late September/early October on the trees etc

Rovaniemi is a wonderful place to visit with lots to offer.
Rovaniemi is a wonderful place to visit with lots to offer. We went on walks in the national park, saw Santa’s village and went shopping in town. I would recommend a minimum of five days. We were only there for 3 and it wasn’t long enough. We were there in autumn and imagine it would be even more spectacular during winter and summer.

Located high up above town, this hotel has the best views out of all the hotels we stayed at in/ around Rovaniemi. The roof terrace was superb for those views too. We loved our room (Mystique Sauna room) with the cosy lighting, framed window view (which can also be enjoyed from the sauna which has a window as well and large amount of space. It was incredibly clean too and we did a walk down into town via the observation tower and it was magic in the snow. Very well signposted and it took around 35 minutes.
We had a wonderful stay at the Santasport Apartment Hotel in Rovaniemi. The apartment is very beautiful, with everything new and tastefully decorated. The terrace is magnificent, offering a peaceful environment that’s perfect for relaxation. The hotel also provides parking, which is very convenient if you’re traveling by car.
Tot ha estat perfecte, ens encantaria tornar!
Great location downtown Rovaniemi. Everything can be done by walking (restaurants, shopping). You can get picked up from the hotel to do the activities (huskies, reindeer etc.) which is convenient. Breakfast is good. Room was clean. We ordered room service at night and it was good too. Good value for money.
Beautiful city centre hotel. Right in the heart of Rovaniemi. Location was excellent. Cosy little apartment. Has everything you need. Owner was very responsive with messages. Bed has a memory foam mattress which was very comfortable. Would recommend for a couple. Decor was fabulous.
From the start Max and his fellow reception staff could not have been more helpful - the hotel was an oasis to return to in true arctic conditions as low as - 32 C temperatures. The room was comfortable and we had a great 3 days in Rovaniemi
