The lift is old and very narrow! Location was fab right off the main shopping street and close to the sea. Not a huge town so easy to walk around. Lovely friendly people. Lots of great cafes and restaurants. Great rail links north and south

We walked up to the castle. Long walk, uphill.

We walked up to the castle. Long walk, uphill. One 2 block area of road had busy truck traffic and a small shoulder to walk on, but was doable. The waterfront promenade was beautiful, full of people enjoying the day. Old town had lots of narrow roads, churches, and a few concerts. A few blocks away was modern, pedestrian street and shopping stores. Everyone was out, walking, enjoying the night. All was walkable from our BnB. We were so busy, we did not take advantage of being close to the Amalfi Coast.

Salerno is a lovely town and a great starting point for exploring the charming towns of the Amalfi Coast. It is only 45 minutes by train from Naples, with plenty of possible connections in both directions each day.

We were based in the Old Town which is about 15 minutes walk from the train station - do-able even dragging suitcases. The old town is absolutely charming. There are many shops, restaurants, cafes and bars with very pleasant owners. We felt sorry that we hadn't learned very much Italian before our arrival but it wasn't a problem as everyone spoke English - not an excuse. Please learn the basics before your visit!. The walk along the Lungomare is lovely and takes you to the boats to the Amalfi coast in one direction and along to lovely seafront bars in the other. The boats are regular and well run and organized. We visited Amalfi town one day, which is beautiful but busy. On another occasion we took the boat to Positano. A stunningly beautiful coastline arriving at a stunningly beautiful town. We were able to get away from the hustle and bustle by finding the 1700 steps to the Path of the Gods. Wonderful! We went to Salerno in late October and early November. The weather was perfect every day - 23/24 degrees. Beware, though, mosquitoes are still around and I got badly bitten as I was unprepared.

Lots to see here but proximity to the Amalfi coast with easy and fun transport to many towns is the best part. Riding in the front seat of a huge bus being driven by an expert is better than Disneyland! Of course, the trip by ferry is breathtaking.

I would agree with the other reviews. The host is super nice, the facilities are good and it is nice and clean. The location is very good close to the ferries and train station, restaurants etc. Salerno is a nice city with little tourists. Travelling to Amalfi by boat is great and taking the train to Pompeii, Rome, Naples or other big cities it easy, cheap and efficient. I highly recommend Salerno and this B&B which is more like a small hotel. We stayed as a couple with our 6 year boy.

Plenty of space in a room with all electronic facilities and the decor is out of the ordinary - not just another boring standard hotel room. The breakfast lady Rosanna helped with all our needs. We will come back next time we are in Salerno.

Good size room with air-conditioning. Close to all amenities. Salerno station is just 400 meters from the hotel. There are a lot of places to eat nearby. There were a couple of free water bottles in the fridge.
