An absolutely beautiful property. The loudest sound was the frogs. Loved all the facilities and the location was perfect. Very clean and welcoming with lots of little extras like rusks, fresh milk and lemonade.
The breakfast was outstanding. Perfectly prepared and so tasty

Charming boutique hotel with a great vibe and lovely outdoor spaces off our room. The staff was extremely friendly and food in the restaurant was good as well. We arrived late and decided to stay in for our meal, and it was a good decision, followed by a full and abundant breakfast in the morning. We spent the morning walking and shopping the village, and all shopkeepers just as pleasant. The gardens were stupendous and very appreciated.

Montagu was very much an unknown jewel for us. Our stay-over enabled us to only just begin discovering some of the beauty and expanse of this quaint town.
It begs for more time and more exploration.
I recommend obtaining one of the town's tourism maps at the beginning of your stay (or preferably while you're planning), so that you can really get to know what is available here to see, do and experience.

The Barn on the outskirts of Montagu was an excellent place for breakfast. Delicious food in a lovely shady setting and even pet friendly (for dogs on leads). Cape Dry Fruit was a great place to visit for well priced dried fruit and nuts.

Montagu is a picturesque town nestled between the mountains.
Montagu is a picturesque town nestled between the mountains. A cool late afternoon mountain breeze is refreshing. Montagu is well-kept, and the architecture consists of both old and new designs. The restaurants serve delicious food. Montagu is well situated and the neighbouring towns are not that far away. Really worth the drive from Johannesburg.

Montagu is a very pretty town with so much to do in and around this area. Went for potjiekos lunch and tractor ride at Protea Farm, Koo - it was superb!! People are very friendly and welcoming and it feels safe to walk around town (even at night). Lovely pizza at Picollo Tesoro - friendly staff and good service.

We stayed in the JAMES' HONEYMOON COTTAGE in which a boutique farm lifestyle aesthetic was perfectly executed and matched with the practical placement of items all around. The views from every room are breathtaking and waking up in a warm bed, thanks to heated blankets, on a winter's morning with your coffee and complementary homemade biscuits overlooking a large extent of the farm was a daily highlight. Being just outside of Montagu there are plenty of activities and wine farms 5 to 20 minutes away. We loved it!
Amazing property, great location. Loved the the special touches and effort from the manager, Henk. The outside area is very well thought out, there is a cosy nook for relaxing and reading a book, a hammock and two outside tables and chairs for outside dining or breakfast while taking in the view of the farm and Montague mountains.
