The view and the jacuzzi. The patience of the proprietors with our poor French. They were very kind.

The owners are very nice! And it's women owned which is Amazing. Friendly hostel to sleep and to enjoy life.

The village was quaint and pleasant to stroll around, of course it was also the location for murders in paradise so we spent some time finding various filmed locations. We'll positioned with some of the best beaches within easy reach. Some of the restaurants were over priced for some very ordinary plates but some of the takeaway and lesser quoted eating places were excellent and good value.

Deshaies was pretty crowded at the time we were there.
Deshaies was pretty crowded at the time we were there. You need to make reservations in the restaurant to get a table. Savane restaurant was great with views of the sunset during dinner. Make sure to visit the botanical garden.

Quiet part of the island and the most beautiful!
Quiet part of the island and the most beautiful! Many gorgeous beaches, mountains and scenery. Can easily spend all our time there without going to other parts of the island. Water activities are plentiful and there are also lots of hiking available including climbing Mt. Soufriere! No need to eat at a restaurant - the food trucks serve really delicious food and the people working them are very friendly.

Lovely town, got to see all the set/filming areas of Death in Paradise, very friendly helpful locals, nice restaurants, pleasant town. Easy and close in the car to lots of lovely sights, Botanic Gardens, the volcano, ACTe Museum etc. We ate in La Madras where they film the programme and Chill which had huge ribs and Le Reflet (the nicest Poulet Colombo - chicken curry! and the chicken with vanilla). I would highly recommend to visit the Maison du Cacao - book your tour in English if you won't understand it in French.

I have not been to many Caribbean islands, but Guadeloupe, and Deshaies in particular, is my favorite place so far. The area has wonderful natural beaches, simple places to drink and eat, and lovely nature. It is the polar opposite to all-inclusive beach resorts, in a good way. All beaches are accessible and free, the people were friendly, and it felt safe everywhere we went. Our list:
1. Beaches: Grande Anse, Cluny, La Perle, Leroux, Petite Anse, Malendur
2. Eat: Paradise Cafe, La Kaz, Le Madras, Karacoli, Le Fournil (patisserie)
3. Drink: La Croisiere (when there is live music), Le Madras, Karacoli
4. Activities: Snorkeling at Malendur and Ilets Pigeon (rent a kayak to get to the island), Botanical Garden, snorkeling at several other beaches to see turtles, surfing at Cluny beach, diving at Malendur or at Petite Anse.
5. Highlight1: Getting 2 bottle of beer at a local store run by a charming old couple, having the owner offer to open the bottles for us, and walking across the street to the beach and sit with locals to chat and watch the sunset.
6. Highlight2: Taking a snorkeling excursion boat ride to 3 snorkeling spots in Reserve du Cousteau.
7. Highlight3: Driving around the area, noticing Cluny beach, parking under a mango tree, watching the Point Break style waves crash along the beach, and walking on the golden sands and picking up just-fallen coconuts (and having a local guy show us how to tell if it was good or not).
8. Highlight4: Listening to a local band playing folk music on hand drums at LaCroisiere on Saturday night while a local guy reached into the cooler to get us beers and chat with us (volunteer waiter). He would let the owner know how many beers he got us every once in a while for us to keep up with the tab.

I loved the laid back, uncomplicated, village feel, and yet cosmopolitan nature of Deshaies. It's really small and stress free, and you get to know everything quickly. We bought excellent fresh fish and crayfish at the harbour, supermarkets have everything you need. Little boutiques to buy pareo and beachwear. Bought lovely scented tea. Restaurants nearby with lovely seafood, creole and simple dishes. Dining over the waves, we enjoyed L' amer Restaurant. And another restaurant with live music on Saturdays, Restaurant La Croisiére. Met artistic locals there, and people showed local dances. We also ate at La Madras, aka Catherine's Bar.
Our home away from home! Even though we didn’t speak any French, the communication was very smooth. Our room was very spacious, clean with all the amenities needed. Wonderful views, great pool and very good location (but if you want to see a bit of Guadelupe I recommend to rent a car). Breakfasts were great, but nothing surpasses the owners hospitality. Very good restaurants near by - for creol experience Chez Ketty, for a bit of luxury Chez Ernest :)
Great location! If you are looking for a quiet getaway during the busy season this is the place to be. Restaurants are within walking distance, as is the beach. Shops are a bit further away, so having a car is a must.
Stephanie and Nicholas are superfriendly, they take time for a chat and are always willing to help or assist you with your needs. So, an excellent stay at a wonderful place. Will certainly return here when visiting Guadeloupe.
The resort is nice, however, the desk service is not customer friendly, the rooms are plagued with mosquitoes making for sleepless nights, and the view from the balcony is partly road. Besides that, the location by the beach is great, the theme nights at the hotel were very fun, the breakfasts were very satisfying, and the cleaning services was excellent.
The hotel is set in a lovely botanical garden. The duplex little houses are lovely and clean. Good air conditioning. Lovely pool.
Loved the fact it's an eco hotel.
Owners are lovely and very helpful.
Very close to La Perle beach, the police station and Catherine's bar used to film Death in Paradise.
