The host was really friendly, attentive, and accommodating, the rooms are clean, comfortable and the wood is soo relaxing! I loved the court, and the high kitchen. Going up and down the stairs there are beautiful paintings that give the place a magical feeling. Not only is it a great retreat from a long hike, but it is wonderful just to stay there an entire day, in quiet, and read a book, in between the wooden sculptures, and enjoy a barbecue at the end of the day. The house is far from the main road, its very peaceful and quiet there, the view of the lake and the mountains is breathtaking.
There is everyhting you need in the house including very comfortable bed, kitchen utensils, big fridge, spacios shower, hot tub and many more things, it also looks very modern and tasteful, you can tell that the owners really tried their best to make it look as nice as possible.
The owners themselves are the kindest people - we felt really welcome and we felt at home there, they showed us around and even took us up the hill behind the house to see the view from there. You can tell that they really put their hearts and souls into this business, which is not something you see very often.
There is a lot of possibilities for hikes there, so it is a great location for being outdoors and exploring the forests/mountains in the area. :)

Perfect for a 3 days escape, we always make this 3 hours car trip to Durau to relax, as a getaway from the city, it is like a tradition. You have everything in place, always availabilities for room booking, great view and sightseeing, good place to eat, a whole day can be spent outside! You won't feel time passing by! Try it!

Durau is a good location for tourists who come to go hiking...
Durau is a good location for tourists who come to go hiking on the mountain trails on Mount Ceahlău. Accommodation in the area is very expensive compared to the services offered. The services offered by hoteliers and other service providers are disappointing compared to the price charged. uCompared to Vatea Dornei where the services are at least 2 times better than in Durău. I say this because I was two days after Durau in Vatra Dornei (Bucovina).

We didn't plan to go here specifically but once we got there we booked the hotel room for another night. We had an exciting yet terrifying walk to the waterfall . The mountains are amazing and the air is just what the doctor prescribed. Plus as a resort,it had everything: entertainment, great food and even a couple of stores to buy essentials. I honestly wish we could have stayed longer but we had to get to our destination. If I was to have a short holiday there once a few months ,than life would be easier.

You can start a hike in Ceahlau.
You can start a hike in Ceahlau. There are lots of trails that can be used (well-marked trails, well indicated, accessible to everyone, a bit too accessible). You can practise other sports like ski, biking, climbing. Next to the ski slope (left side) is an Adventure Park. Be aware of bears! :-) You can access the area from Bicaz - Izvorul Muntelui, Targu Neamt, Toplita - Borsec, Vatra Dornei. Except for the mountains, you can visit the remnants of a palace (Palatul Cnejilor), Durau monastery, the huge Izvorul Muntelui lake, wildlife, good food (in Durau or around, I recommend Orizont restaurant in Farcasa). There is a lot to say. Two things I don't like in Durau: the buggies (they destroy the trails) and the lack of investments.

The main reason for me it was to have a place for two nights for trekking and hiking ti Virful Toaca. Otherwise I don't know what it possible to do in Durau))) Oк if you are practise ski , I have seen there also ski slop

3 things: Location, parking, reception. Its great if you are planning to take a hike, but if you are traveling by car, look at hotels even at other cities if all in this city is full. There are a huge parking lot, so u can park your car easily.
Receptionists had little/no english knowledge, but they did everything profesionaly. Check in and check out was easy and smooth. Great ladies! They were the best "thing" inside this hotel.
It is a very nice place and the host is extremely kind. The hotel is located very close to the touristic attractions. Also, we had at our disposal a nice kitchen, a beautiful garden (very nice for children), coffee machine and many others... Thanks again for the warm welcome !
