The hotel couldn’t have been more perfect! The location is ideal to explore the city + the airport bus is only few minutes away too!
The room was spacious and spotless, the staff was very kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious as well, with lots of variety.
The hot spring was my highlight, exceptionally beautiful and relaxing, with either free ice cream or a yogurt drink afterwards.
The hotel offered lots of other perks as well, like free late night ramen.
All in all, I can’t recommend this hotel enough and I’d gladly stay there again!

Everything was fabulous: you cannot get a better location - next to the oldest onsen in Japan! Very quiet district, parking your rented car in an automated lift tower: super practical and cheap.
The room was large and very comfortable, with lots of windows looking over the onsen.
Breakfast was a simple Japanese traditional one, served in the restaurant nextdoor.
Staff were helpful and some spoke English.
Highly recommended: Matsuyama is really worth a visit.

I am grateful to Tanaka san and Iseki san for their invaluable assistance in helping me to retrieve my lost item.
They contacted the related department, explained my situation that I was unable to return and claim the item in person and arranged takkubin to send it to my last accommodation.
It was a great stay with great hospitality!

The photos really don’t do these rooms justice. We got a standard twin room which was actually massive. Two generously sized beds plus a sofa, table and chair. Decent sized balcony overlooking the sea. And an absolutely huge bathroom section. It’s not just one room - there’s a toilet room, a vestibule with sink and mirror, and a private (and massive) onsen and shower room.
We only stayed here one night as a stopover but now wish we’d booked a couple of nights as it was great.

Easy to reach by tram from Matsuyama JR station this is a slightly older Japanese business hotel. We stayed in a japanese style room which was very small but clean and comfy for one or two nights. Free bathroom ammenities as well as robes etc are available in the hallway. The hotel offers free bycicles for use which makes getting around town a breeze. It's about a 10 min bike ride from the centre of town and the chairlift station leading up to the castle. As almost everywhere in Japan the staff spoke very limited English but where kind and helpful and tried their very best. Very hard to beat for the price but possibly best for a short stay due to the room size.

The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed.
The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed. It was Ryokan Kominka Mitsuhama, and it was detailed by a true artist. You have 2 floors of space with the bedroom upstairs and a large living room downstairs. The living room is surrounded by 2 different mature and well lit Japanese gardens. One had many Koi swimming in the ponds. So lovely!
It was in a quiet, low key neighborhood but just 2 blocks to the river and near a little working fisherman's bay. The boats were squid fisherman with lights strung on them because they fish at night with the lights to attract the squid. There were plenty of small local restaurants and bakeries. It was a respite from tourist crowds and off the beaten path.

After Tokyo which is overrun with tourists Matsuyama has a far more traditional feeling. You can visit a variety of interesting sites in an unrushed and uncrowded manner. It is far more representative of Japan as it is lived in away from the crowds.

Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave.
Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave. The castle (with its chair lift up to it) was great. There are lots of options for shopping, eating and drinking and the whole area around Dogo Onsen is very nice.

Where there isn’t the sea, the city is surrounded by mountains. With the hill that has the castle on top, it creates a nice atmosphere. The onsen town (Dogo onsen) is where I mostly stayed. It was fun to see people walking around in the street in their yukata.
Like in many Japanese cities, the tram is cute and all, but it’s very inefficient. Moreover, you can only pay with cash or their local IC card. You cannot use standard IC cards like Pasmo, Suica, etc.
We ate at our wonderful hotel (Kowakuen) so I cannot speak about the restaurants.

The hotel is very close to the tram, less than 10 minutes' walk. Walking from the hotel can quickly reach the Okaido store street. The check-in went smoothly and the front desk service was very good. The room is very clean and tidy. On the third floor, there are washing machines, dryers, vending machines, and ice makers.
Room was small but beautifully appointed. Great air con! Had a nice view to Matsuyama Castle which was a real treat. The location of this hotel is excellent. Breakfast was delicious and the staff at breakfast were just lovely. I would happily recommend this lovely hotel to others.
Location was good
Easy to get around on foot or public transport .
The day i arrived was late sunday afternoon
The super friendly Japanese couple who run this place even brought me to Matsuyama castle with their private car, so i could still visit it before closing time .
The location of the hotel was very central ( like five minutes to go to the castle Matsuyama )
also the hotel had a little shopping mall included where you could buy clothes and other items
Great modern hotel. Excellent facilities. Coin laundry very practical. Bathroom much nicer than many other Japanese hotel chains - more space, modern. Very central location for going out.
