Good location and nice shower. It's a very simple hotel and in a great location. The pictures may be a bit dated but I couldn't really fault for the price to stay.

Fabulous location - walking distance to everything. Great for families - there was even a little mini golf course that has seen better days but worked for ours sons who had their own clubs with them and a massive trampoline!

Sue was an amazing host, picky bits and a scotch whiskey with some lovely others that were staying. The view was amazing and the the sounds that were coming from the woods were lovely to hear. Thanks Sue ❤️

I've stayed in hokitika twice now and I love the beach, i can sit there for hours and just watch life go by, it's so peaceful and the sun sets are beautiful. I wasn't there for the shopping but if that's your thing then im sure you won't be disappointed. Cafés are great and staff are nice and friendly.

This trip surprised us - we loved every minute of it.
This trip surprised us - we loved every minute of it. My husband and I are not the most 'outdoorsy' people, but the region was too beautiful not to explore. West Coast life is such that people do things their own way and speed, and we felt absolutely comfortable wandering slowly here and there, looking at all the interesting things. It was such a lovely, peaceful, gob-smackingly beautiful little get away. The little glow worm dell just out of Hokitika is beautiful, and only a 50m walk along a path; easily doable for most people, including those pushing strollers.
We spent most of our time in Hokitika and Franz Josef (about 1 hour, 45 minutes away from Hokitika), and if you're looking to find some of the most beautiful places in NZ, you need to visit these two. Just don't forget the bug repellent!
The town of Hokitika itself is wonderful. There is so much to learn and see about pounamu, the local wild life, the Māori mythology and iwi associated with the area, and the rain forest. We also really enjoyed the little crafty stores, but we did run into issues a few times when it came to dinner. Most of the restaurants, take-away included, are closed by 8-9pm. If you're late eaters like us, you will need to plan!
Hokitika beach is lovely; it's a mix of soft grey sand, a little gravel, and swathes of small-to-large pebbles. It was lovely and sunny when we were there, the area is well maintained, and the beach itself it a rock fossickers dream! Don't forget to check out the iconic driftwood sign.
We travelled in our electric car, which has a range of 220-250 km per charge. There are CHAdeMO/CCS 50KW fast chargers easily available around the region, and whilst it does require a little planning to ensure you don't run out of battery in the middle of nowhere, it's definitely doable to travel electrically. We had no trouble with the roads, steep inclines, or inclement weather.

Loved Hokitika Kiwi Centre with the super active Kiwi and the Huge Eels. Didn't have enough time for all the activities, but Tree Top, Zipline, Glass Blowing, Cutting own Jade stone, Heritage Park are the main attractions. Gold Mine town Ross is another must visit. Will return again.

For a multiple unit holiday home style property, the apartment was surprisingly spacious and comfortable, more akin to an apartment AirBnB. We appreciated the 3 bedrooms, which was a nice change from the 2 bed places we'd been staying on the rest of our tour, for about the same price. (However this might be just because Hokitika is less expensive). Our place had a great view off the veranda, very fast internet, and on the whole was a very relaxing place to be. We wished we'd stayed longer (we were just there one night).
Our room features comfortable beds and amenities.
The hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of the Hokitika town centre, just a short walk from the beach, shops, and restaurants. This prime location made exploring so much easier.
The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive. Our room was spotless upon arrival, and the housekeeping staff maintained high standards throughout our stay.
Overall, I highly recommend the Stumpers Hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay!
We loved our experience at the Beachfront Hotel Hokitika.
The room was spacious and well appointed. The bed was so comfy and huge!
The bathroom looked brand new and was exceptionally clean.
The bonus was having our own little courtyard and a heat pump which was a godsend as we visited in winter.
The location was perfect and everything was walkable.
Having an afternoon drink on the deck of the restaurant was a perfect way to watch the sun go down.
Would definitely recommend.
Best motel I’ve stayed at during my journey through New Zealand so far. The room was modern and clean and most of all unlike the other motels I’ve been to so far the kitchen cabinets didn’t smell weird. Instead it smelled very fresh there. Would definitely come again.
It had induction stove top in addition to the standard microwave which is better than some motels.
The location was easy to find and only a short drive away from most things.
Staff who checked us in was very informative.
