I got a very pleasant surprise when I reserved a room at this hotel on the bus to Vidin, a bus ride I took on impulse without a definite plan in mind.. A taxi took me from the bus station to the hotel, and I was pleased to see that overcharging foreigners is not common in this town. I got a warm welcome at the reception, and although not much English was spoken, communication was not impossible and I was made to feel welcome. After collecting my key and entering my room, I got my surprise - my room was in fact and apartment, and a very large and spacious one too! In addition to the bedroom, there is a big living room, and well as two small gardens exclusive to the room. I was very comfortable there, and my planned night became 5 nights, and I didn't want to leave. Everyday I was able to extend my stay, and I was always asked if I needed anything for the room. Needless to say, if I ever find myself in the pleasant town of Vidin in the future, I will reserve a room here again.

Vidin is a charming small city. The park, architectural and historical monuments, and the art museum provide interesting sights for 2-3 days. Just sitting in the park along the Danube watching the river traffic is a relaxing time. If you're looking for a couple of days to just slow down, it's a great place.

Nice town with lively promenade/park along the Danube.
Nice town with lively promenade/park along the Danube. Fortress "Baba Vida" has a long history, had historically withstood sieges, and served as home base for regional rulers. The new bridge nearby has made Vidin the obvious choice for a one-day stopover, and I don't regret it.

The rather small city has a lot to offer and same is valid for the areas in vicinity (max 60-80 km). Very nice natural objectives (caves and mountain trails) but also a lot of historical objectives (fortresses, churches, etc).
Good restaurants and a nice walking area on the Danube are recommended.

Vidin may visibly be the poorest administrative city in Bulgaria but it certainly offers a treat for the eye with its examples of beautiful architecture. The famous landmark of Vidin - the Baba Vida fort is also enjoyable for views both from the inside and from the top of it. Enjoy a stroll along the Danube and wave a hi to Romania which is visible on the other bank of the river. Also, everything here seems to be considerably more inexpensive compared to the rest of Bulgaria.

It is a great city on the Danube River just by Danube Bridge 2, which leads to Romania. It has fantastic garden with great shade, wide walking areas, many resting places, excellent restaurants, playgrounds for children. By the end of the park is the famous and authentically preserved fortress Baba Vida. Most people find the city clean, quiet, pleasant and relaxing.

Vidin feels like a resort town, even if it isn't.
Vidin feels like a resort town, even if it isn't. Very relaxed and pleasant, many green areas, especially the long river park along the Danube. The Danube dominates the town and is a majestic river, one can sit in the park and watch the ships. The main attraction of town is of course the medieval fortress Baba Vida, which is very interesting to explore, but we enjoyed the Epigraphical Center in close proximity as well. In general, Vidin has exciting history, including of a large and very old Jewish community, departed after WW2. The Synagogue is now under renovation - and we are looking forward to visit again in 2023 when it will be ready as a tourist/cultural center.
We ate in 2 places - Danube Fish & Grill, on a boat in the river, and Teatro, in the park, and both places surprised us with the quality of the food for the prices, simply great. Local fish soup Salamura and local red wine Gamza are warmly recommended. In general, we spent 2 nights in Vidin and had a great experience altogether!
The Vida family hotel is like a guest house. Don't expect too much and you will like everything. The staff is very friendly, the location is great for exploring Vidin on foot, and parking outside was no problem. WiFi was great, paying with card ok. We visited mid Aug, so we appreciated the good air conditioning! Breakfast is not included, but overall great value for the money.
The hotel is located quite close to Dunab rever as well as all the historical landmarks. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel itself looks old, but it is apparent that the owners took a big step to innovate and make it clean and comparatively modern.
