The local brew pub was great - excellent food and fantastic beers, very good service. Bancroft is known as a mineral capital with a small but excellent mineral museum. There is also an interesting historical museum and an active cultural community. Many artists live in the area and offer wonderful paintings and other creations at local stores. There are some lovely cafes offering great baked goods and tasty light lunches. There are nature trails, great camping and fishing, and off trail vehicles to rent as well as canoes, other boats and catamarans. There are a number of parks for children including a skateboard park. The August long weekend [ first weekend of the month] offers Bancroft's Rockhound Gemboree, a world reknowed gem and mineral show with great specimens for sale. There are also some excellent tourist shops offering gifts and items for the whole family at reasonable prices. Don't forget to drive down the side streets to find interesting shops and restaurants. Alice's Pantry offers bulk food products, and specialty, ethic and local options and home cooked meals. We took advantage of the daily evening special to save on restaurant costs.

Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Can't recommend this place highly enough! Loved the location - close enough to Algonquin National Park and easily within walking distance (down a lovely riverside path) to the town of Bancroft. (you'd need a car to get to a decent supermarket though). Lots of food and drink options in the town. The communication with the owners was excellent. The apartment was lovely - homely, well-equipped, excellent A/C, immaculately clean. Loved having a washing machine and dryer! We will be back!!!

It is a very nice place to do some sports activities and enjoy the nature at the same time. Bancroft is also a good starting point to go to the Algonquin Provincial Park. Although there are some good Restaurants in town, can highly recommend the Granite. Visiting Bancroft by car, I think, will be the best opportunity.

History and geology of the area is interesting.

History and geology of the area is interesting. Bancroft is a hub for the region; it has everything you need. It even has an amazing army surplus store. Excellent book store, rock hunting, museum (well worth spending some time), music in the park on Wednesdays and a great cafe run by volunteers, where money supports local youth and programs. And you should visit the Eagle's nest for a spectacular view. A lovely town to explore and spend some time.

Lots of common areas with seating.

Lots of common areas with seating. Pool was warm and clean, amazing options for breakfast. Key cards kept failing had to get them reset a few times in a two night stay. Friendly staff. Highly recommend eating at Dave's Place of you go for a meal.

Bancroft is a quant town, quiet and very friendly.

Bancroft is a quant town, quiet and very friendly. They have the basics of what you need - banks, groceries, restaurants/take-out, and great little shops up and down main street. Lots of opportunities to view wildlife going through scenic roads, lots of water access opportunities for fishing, swimming, boating, etc. Check out Eagle's Nest for amazing views of town and the surrounding area (York River, etc.). Millennium Park is also a great place to walk or have a picnic.

The Swords Inn is right on the inside of downtown Bancroft, making it very close to shop and eat. The town is a wonderful "window shop" town going up and down the main street. The Inn has free breakfast, a nice pool, and great walking access to the York River on the outside of Millennial Park. Good value for your stay.

We really enjoyed the time in this beautiful place - the apartment itself, but also Bancroft and it's surroundings. The perfect equipment and amenities added to that. Plenty of private parking space... nice view on the parc from the patio ... even a BBQ grill waits there (though haven't used it)
