I traveled by bike. The ride to the Homestay gave some amazing views. The owners were very nice and invited me for a Vietnamese diner in the evening. In the morning the owner showed me their tea trees 3km ahead. There I was also invited to visit 2 other tea garden owners and had 2 tea sessions with them. Amazing place and no need for expensive tourist traps. Great starting point for a bike ride from Nghia Lo to Sa Pa which has some amazing mountain views.

The hosts were very friendly and helped us with all our questions and needs. For example the father repared the mirror on the bike and packed the rest of the breakfast and fruits for our further journey. The outdoor area is very beautiful surrounded by nature and flowers.
The hosts invited us to have dinner with them which was really cute. Just a small thing, it would have been nice to tell us in advance that the dinner costs 200.000 dong/person.

You can take a sleeper bus from My Dinh bus station (Hanoi)...
You can take a sleeper bus from My Dinh bus station (Hanoi) to Nghia Lo, it stops at Nghia Lo bus station. From there you can rent motorbikes at Thuy Huan bike center, there are many choices you can choose, but the staffs are unfriendly and their attitude is not good. They will ask to keep your ID/ passport (which I never give them) for rent a bike (where they can take a copy of it).
Nothing special in Nghia Lo, just a place to rest for a night before head to Tu Le (amazing beautiful place) and Mu Cang Chai (wonderful spectacular most peaceful place and rice fields). From Tu Le to Mu Cang Chai, you will go through Khau Pha Pass, and best part if from Tu Le to Mu Cang Chai with majestical beautiful rice fields. Highly recommend going by motorcycle, and drive safely.
