We came during the peak season of the New year. 30 Dec - 3 Jan. But it wasn't busy like Bangkok or Pataya. Pretty laid back. Recommended to rent a bike to see the town. Spend a full day exploring the waterfalls near Nam Tok Train station and don't missed out on the night market next to the Kanchanaburi Train station. Wished I had a full week (7D6N) to take the time to explore other parts of Kanchanaburi.

Went there to stay & for a wedding which was organised by the hotel. Wedding was planned to finish at 1:30 pm but was told we had to check out at 1 pm or they would charge additional 1,000 baht.
Got a 150 baht credit to use at the hotel but was never told of any conditions. When we checked out, we couldn't even use the credit for the breakfast for our friends who visited us at the hotel.
Talked to the manager and she used the word 'hotel policy' as an excuse for poor management and bad company culture which reflects badly on the staff attitude (except the bell boy).
I demanded an official apology letter for ruining my holiday. Let's see if they give a crap.

We went specifically for the Remembrance Day service for war victims (11th November), and visited the war museums, cemetery and of course the bridge and Hellfire Pass. Very worthwhile and respectful of the many POWs who were forced to work in horrendous circumstances. Sadly many were lost of course.

We only stayed for two nights, so we could do a full day tour which included Erawan Falls, Hellfire Pass, Burma Railway and Bridge over River Kwae, which is a must do via Thai National Parks if you are staying locally. We could have stayed much longer as there is so much more to do and see.

Visit Kanchanburi!
Visit Kanchanburi! You must take the Train over the River Kwai up to Namtok (about 1 hour train ride, tickets bought on the train. Have cash Baht to pay) and visit Hellfire Pass. Not to be missed. The most beautiful scenery but with many steps. Whilst checking out Kanchanaburi please visit the WWII and Jeath War Museum. A section of the original River Kwai bridge is still in place. This Museum is so worth the tiny 100 Baht entry. The lady in the ticket office (perfect English) is exceptionally knowledgeable about local tourism and also can help you with a return open air taxi back to the River Kwae Resort. Plenty of markets in the town centre of Kan, but we preferred to eat at the Resort. Be prepared ... a 'taxi' in Kan is an open air ute/truck. So much fun!

Really great place to be out of the madness.
Really great place to be out of the madness. We stayed at the Royal River Kwai which was stunning. It was quiet, there was bird song. We took a river tour and went to an elephant sanctuary where we fed the elephants after helping them wash in the river and walking with them in the jungle. We didn't have enough time to do the train trip too and the main town area looked fun to check out - which we didn't have time to do either. We stayed 3 days here - I would recommend staying 5 or more - especially if you want to have days where you do nothing.

Perfect resort to relax for a few days . Very chilled place, great swimming pools . Floating villas right on the river . Very peaceful , great to have a few days to chill after back packing around Vietnam , Cambodia , Laos and Thailand . Fern and all the staff are very attentive and we couldn’t praise them highly enough . Nothing is too much trouble . Dinner on both occasions was excellent and the breakfast is just perfect . A perfect place to stay .
Staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. The rooms we booked were a decent size and were immaculately cleaned daily. Breakfast was good with varied options. Pool when available was clean. Location is good for Kanchanaburi. Hotel room booked was upgraded to river view due to dust from demolition works.
This is a new hotel situated in the heart of the city of Kanchanaburi. The room had everything you needed for a stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bus station was literally 2 minutes walk away which was handy if you needed this mode if transportation.
Comfortable bed, great location which is 1.5km to river Kwai bridge, 800m to night market, nice local and international breakfast, 10 mins drive to Kanchanaburi skywalk, helpful staff, indoor pool, hotel with lift and parking lots.
