The tapas style restaurant is expensive, portions small
The wild rice dish turned out to be undercooked and was sent back. The baked cod very good but portion was tiny
Disappointing that bread requested pre dinner cost £4 for two tiny slices

Highly recommend visiting Bucklebury farm for the soft play and farm animals which you can feed. Great for toddlers and kids and beautiful scenery. If you love vintage fashion and thrifting I also recommend visiting the Clothing Warehouse which is one giant warehouse full of a vintage and secondhand clothes for men, women and children! Newbury has a great town as well with an authentic Chinese buffet called kung fu which our family enjoyed. Overall an enjoyable short stay. When we visit next we would like to check out the living rainforest, the discovery centre and highclere castle which was unfortunately closed! Just so much to do here!

My time , along with my friends had nothing to do with Newbury itself . We were gathered for an event at the nearby Sandham Memorial Chapel to commemorate those who served in the British Salonika Force of WW1 and to appreciate the moving paintings of Stanley Spencer in the chapel.
If I had an additional day I would have liked to walk Watership Down.
Meeting and returning a friend to the Station at nearby Newbury was easy and a simple short drive..

First time to the centre of Newbury and a lovely, attractive town with excellent choice of shops, restaurants (the Goat on the Roof fabulous), pubs and bars. Lovely architecture and very pretty sitting next to the canal. Lovely nature park a couple of miles outside the town easily accessible with beautiful walks and lake. Very close to the racecourse and good transport links by train and road. I was really pleasantly surprised by how pretty it was and spoke to quite a few locals who had recently moved there and really enjoying it

The accommodations were excellent.
The accommodations were excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the restaurant was amazing. The dinner and breakfast were great and it was not busy, so we had a really nice time walking the grounds and relaxing. The castle was beautiful, as expected, and we would stay again if we are in the area.

From our arrival to our departure all of your staff were very accommodating and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff and dining staff were great, very approachable and went out of there way to explain menus helping us to choose the right one for different individuals.
We only stayed one night enroute to Littlecote House in Hungerford.
Next time we will endeavour to stay longer.
Thankyou

The hotel was a lovely old Inn that had been updated but still kept its old fashioned charm. The staff were very helpful and there was ample parking. The bed was comfortable & plenty of tea, coffee & biscuits were supplied. Newbury Town centre is only a few minutes away and there are fabulous walks along the canal bank too.
Great value / competitive prices, excellent food, smiley staff who helpfully told us the cheapest place to park in Newbury which was very close to the hotel.. No 'musak' in the bars. Great location in the town centre. good choice of drinks - apart from the lack of Port
A characterful heritage pub hotel located in the old town square conveniently located for access to all of Newbury’s shops. High powered central heating delivers lots of warmth. Super comfortable beds. Spacious rooms.
Stayed in the summer house adjacent main hotel, lovely and quiet, rooms large and clean. Allotted own parking space which was close. Lovely location with golf course away from Newbury.
