I had the dog with me and the room was perfectly situated on the ground floor. The bar/restaurant was nearby and staff quietly and smoothly found a table for me where other guest wouldn't be affected by having a dog nearby.

The whole ambience of the hotel and the exceptional ,helpful, friendly and cheery staff was an experience very worthy of top marks in our estimations. The food was evidently freshly prepared and tasted delicious and once again an applause to the waiting staff for being so informative and attentive. Room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Due to the Christmas holidays extra tea, coffee, milk etc was provided as well as extra towels.
The bed was a good size though a little hard for my liking, not the worst I’ve had.
Communication before our stay was exceptional and we were aware of slight changes due to the festivities, which didn’t really affect us.

It's an ok area with friendly locals and plenty of shops from large supermarkets to smaller one so you can also entertain yourself there plus there are plenty of local coffee shops and take aways.

Everyone we interacted with was friendly. The town looked a bit “concrete”, lacking in character. Limited dining opportunities during our midweek stay.
Some new residential developments evident that looked a big improvement on the derelict tower blocks that were evident and depressing.

My mum was born in Carfin, and we visited relatives there quite frequently - mostly passed on now. My wife and I were on our way to a holiday in the highlands so we decided to break our journey in Motherwell.
I was last there about fifty years ago, so everywhere was very different! Was nice being back...

Accommodation easy to find as just off M74.
Strathclyde Park offered a quiet place for a stroll or bustle of amusement Park for younger generation.

Never been to a Great Western hotel before,and what a great hotel this was. On arrival and welcoming staff at check in, while then going for food in the lounge area,again the friendliness of the staff was great. Had soup/sandwich combo, wife had sandwich and chips combo great value for money. We were in room 12 front of hotel big room and clean/tidy. Shower/bathroom wanted to take with me. For us fantastic value for money,spend extra for the breakfast it's so worth it. All in all 10/10 for our stay..
Unique building, so easily identified. Close to the centre of town and the museum with wonderful panoramic views from the flat roof, this is a must. The staff were very helpful. Scottish breakfast and one evening meal were well cooked and presented in a comfortable dining room. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and discovering the history of Motherwell.
Sweeney's Hotel is very well maintained and was spotlessly clean. The rooms and lobby are decorated to a high standard, and the bed was very comfortable. Walk-in shower and a kitchenette in the room were added bonuses. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from Motherwell railway station and the town centre. Recommended.
The hotel is centrally based between Glasgow and Edinburgh with parking on site.
Breakfast is a set price. For dinner you must make a reservation as it does get busy. They also do great cocktails and have a fabulous wine list.
