Breathtaking scenery.Really felt immersed in the environment. The little village of Cheddar was so quaint. We visited in the evening as well and it had such a magical atmosphere.Very pretty. We had a meal in a Greek Restaurant (oops sadly I can't remember the name) which was a welcome change from the usual fare & delightful.Great atmosphere & super friendly staff. My only regret is we didn't have time to experience the area to the full.A second visit,I think!!!

Cheddar is a must visit, the Gorge is incredible and the caves you pay to go inside are worth it especially once. Little shops all selling cider and cheese. The restaurants are great also. We used the Greek, honestly sooo good and the Italian was amazing also. Cheddar gets very busy on weekends so avoid using the car in the town centre if you can. We only used the car to drive to places outside cheddar- Wells- Glastonbury- Dorset - monkey world- Lulworth cove- Bath.

Beautiful sight seeing, hiking, climbing area.
Beautiful sight seeing, hiking, climbing area. Peaceful caves and gorge to sit and picnic. We decided not to pay for any of the sights and instead enjoy nature for free ss i had 4 different age groups of childre . We loved it so much, brought cream cakes from local shops and had picnic on clifftop and between caves. Beautiful drive between the caves. Seaside was 30mins drive. Halal Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant. Pizza shop and fish and chips all walking distance.

The town is lovely. Cheddar Gorge needs to been seen.
The town is lovely. Cheddar Gorge needs to been seen. There’s traffic free cycling and a reservoir to walk or cycle around. The landscape is beautiful. Plenty of places to eat. The people we met were very helpful.

Cheddar village itself is nothing special but the Gorge and the caves are a must see. Also buy some real cheddar cheese at the foot of the gorge.
It is also within easy reach of some excellent spots such as the city of Wells and Glastonbury.

Cheddar Village is lovely. Nice pubs, Café and gift shops.
Cheddar Village is lovely. Nice pubs, Café and gift shops. Can get quite busy at weekends. We stayed close enough to walk there. Surrounding places to visit include Glastonbury and Wells.
Walked the Gorge, Which is quite tough in places. There is a free route and you can come down Jacob’s ladder free of charge. (You pay to walk up it)
There are other flatter walks suitable for older people and children. Felt that the entry fee to the caves was very high £25 each.

The location was excellent to experience all that Cheddar Gorge has to offer, although up a fairly steep hill so if you’re not one for walking you would need a car, as we did!! There was a big open fireplace with logs aplenty left for your enjoyment. While the accommodation looks big from the outside, it’s not at all big on the inside but perfectly formed with some beautiful beams. The walk-in shower very powerful. The property also has everything you’ll need on your stay.
Very helpful and friendly host who made you feel very welcome. Superb breakfast and my dietary needs were well catered for, which I very much appreciated. Hotel is exceptionally clean and decor is modern and appears to have been very recently decorated. 1 will be returning again soon.
We stayed here on our way back from Cornwall to break the journey up, had a day in Cheddar before checking in to the hotel. What a little gem, it ticked all the boxes and the food was to die for, everything was exceptional. We will stay here again, 100%
The staff were very helpful and made the stay very pleasant. The family friendly atmosphere across many generations was great and the garden sitting was very welcome.. Highly recommend YHA Cheddar.
Great lay out with plenty of space. It had everything we needed for our stay. Location was perfect being a short distance away from Cheddar and 2 pubs close by.
