FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

First time visiting Cardiff and I was very impressed.

First time visiting Cardiff and I was very impressed. It is a beautiful clean city with the castle right in the middle of the city too. Plenty of pubs and places to eat too. Easy to get around and plenty of great public transport. I also saw Cardiff Bay and Penarth which had stunning scenery. I also visited the Brecon Beacons too which was about 1.5 hours away from Cardiff but it was easy to get to as the buses were regular and on time. I also seen a good bit of South Wales on the bus journey passing through Merthyr Tydfil and Pontypridd which looked really nice towns too. If you like hiking and walking and historical buildings then I recommend Cardiff as a great place to visit and a great city to base yourself in to explore South Wales.

    Cardiff is a lovely city.

Cardiff is a lovely city. We very much enjoyed wandering around the city centre and the wonderful castle. Cardiff Bay, however is a big let down. No shops unless you count Tesco Express, Greggs, a dentist and a tattoo parlour. It's a good place for drinking and having a meal but nothing else.

The apartment was relatively clean and freshly painted. Lots of the fixtures and fittings were new. There was a kettle, toaster, microwave, hob and oven and a washer/dryer. Bed was very soft but relatively comfortable. Bathroom was big and airy. Close to city centre, Cardiff Bay and Principlaity Stadium. Host contacted us on check in day. We were easily able to contact host when there was confusion with lock box code (my mistake).
