FAQs about hotels in Uppsala

The Amsterdam of Scandinavia

With its majestic cathedral as a backdrop, Uppsala is an old and fascinating city lined with tranquil waterways and home to a medieval old town, botanical gardens, and several historical landmarks such as Uppsala Castle.

The lively and colourful main square of Stora Torget is surrounded by narrow cobbled streets, shops, restaurants and cafés.

Gamla (Old Town) Uppsala offers visitors a step back in time and gives an insight into what life was in medieval times. The old town features the Temple at Uppsala, pre-historic and Viking burial grounds and traditional Swedish houses.

Upsala houses the 15th-century Uppsala University and has a large student population which in-turn means an energetic nightlife; this is reflected in the bars, pubs and clubs located around the city centre and university quarter.

The city is a popular and ideal base for travellers visiting Stockholm and Arlanda, both of which are easily accessible from Uppsala Central Station. A wide range of accommodation options are available throughout Sweden via Booking.com.

The old town area is so full of historical buildings and culture. There is so much to see but don’t miss the Arboretum, the best I have seen in years. Also great shopping in the walking shopping district.

We spent 4 nights in Uppsala in order to visit our son which is a student at the University. The city is very lively due to the huge number of students from all over the world. There is a large number of restaurants, cafes and other food supplying shops. The City Cathedral is a must visit monument and the benches across the river offer picturesque views. The capital city, Stockholm, where one can visit some of the 100 museums, lies in short distance (36' by train).

I visited Uppsala because I couldn't secure any rooms in Stockholm. But my oh my, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The city was so lovely and easy to navigate. I walked around, visited numerous landmarks, and had lunch in a cute little restaurant, Guntherska. Once in your lifetime, you should make time to visit Uppsala.

This wonderful hotel is located in a central position in Uppsala close to trains, buses, shops, and city sights. The team are very friendly and kind throughout the hotel. Their breakfasts are legendary and truly amazing. We were staying at the Radisson Blu to visit our Swedish family locally, and the staff welcomed them to visit us with open arms. They proved that they are indeed a family hotel. Everything was really great and we will return to that hotel soon. it suits our purposes practically but it is also a relaxing place to stay.

Breakfast - excellent. 3 types of bacon, cheese, boiled eggs, fresh fruits, yogurt, different types of milk (including for vegans), cookies, coffee, apple and orange juices. The hotel offers a complementary tea, coffee during all your accommodation, Cookies and some fruits also are placed in the breakfast room for all the day. Microwave oven and small fridge could be considered as a bonus again. Room - not much extras, but all you may need, strong wi-fi. Location - very convenient for those visiting Uppsala University buildings.

This is a very well maintained, clean building. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Great location straight across from Uppsala Centralisation bus and train station. It wasn't the most comfortable stay but that is more to do with my medical issues than the hotel itself.
