The hotel provided all of the essentials that we look for -- clean, good location, good soundproofing, decent private bathroom, window/natural light, double bed. We enjoyed having a bathtub. We didn't use the sento (hot baths), but they said that small tattoos would be tolerated as long as you cover them up. In the winter the room was a comfortable temperature without requiring us to turn on the AC/heating. They provide room cleaning or new towels on request. The main attraction -- the canal and old town -- is just a minute's walk away.

Kurashiki is a beautiful, well preserved old town, much like Kyoto but without the crowds of tourists. The Folk Art Museum and the Kyosai Museum are particular highlights. If you're interested in Japanese history and culture, and don't want to be swamped with other tourists, I can't recommend Kurashiki enough.

Kurashiki is a great town, especially the old quarter. We stayed several nights but also did day trips from our accommodation. It was great to come back to Kurashiki at the end of the day. There is a train station right there to do day trips, a great shopping mall, as well as the stores in the old town.

We loved Kurashiki.
We loved Kurashiki. The historical quarter is so pretty with the gorgeous canal and its boats, along with the streets of former rice storehouses. The old town is quick and easy to navigate and there is so much to do! We also loved exploring the shops and enjoyed a delicious meal of Bukkake udon, a local specialty. Would highly recommend a visit here. Note: The Momotaru “Peach Boy” Folk Museum was great for our 10 year old daughter and fun for us too!!

Fabulous historic quarter with about 300 original old buildings - many storehouses. Beautiful historic canal and many tasteful souvenir shops. Very interesting collection of western art in Ohara Museum.

Cute place for a day trip, or a one night stay.
Cute place for a day trip, or a one night stay. If you travel off season, know that the boats are only operating during the weekend. No need to spend a lot of time here, you can see most sights in a few hours. Nevertheless, a beautiful city with an impressive historical center!

From the moment we decided to stay at Temari Oitoma Inn and booked our stay there the process was seamless. So, we were off to a good start and our good luck continued. The inn was close to Bikan Historical District, less than a 10” minute walk and there were many good restaurants and shops in the same area. There are many fun and interesting things to see and do in Kurashiki and we could have stayed there another couple of days. We would go back in a heartbeat!

The location was amazing, a short walk to the station and easy walk to Kurashiki Bikan historical quarter. We enjoyed our easy walks to town, borrowing umbrellas from the hotel was easy and made the rain enjoyable. Our room was really nice, and the lounge and breakfast was great as well. This really exceeded my expectations!
Location can't be any better if you are going to visit Kurashiki. The hotel blends into the historical area nicely. The hotel itself is indeed a spot to visit room. We booked family room which is bigger and nicer than many hotels we visited at similar rate. The room seems newly renovated. Hotel staff are nice.
Good location only a few minutes walk from Kurashiki station, with lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
