Location was ok but you really need a car; breakfast was very good, buffet dinner whilst good selection of food was overpriced compared to other hotels.

The location was excellent with a great beach filled with plenty of (pricey) sunbeds and umbrellas just down from the resort. The pools and access to sunbeds were great. Evening entertainment was great for kids up to around 10pm but not much for teenagers so we mostly used the free shuttle bus/taxi to head into Albufiera.
Everywhere in the resort was spotless and the gardens were very well tended. Parking for the hire car was free and sufficient to ensure no problems when returning late.
All the staff were great and the rooms were kept cleaned and serviced every day.
Sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean can be enjoyed from the poolside sundeck of the adults-only Boa Vista. Panoramic balconies with wooden chairs are featured in its rooms with vintage decoration.

Hotel Balaia Mar has a good location, just a short walk away from the beach, which was very convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. However, the bed in my room was squeaky and not very comfortable, which affected my sleep quality. While the amenities were clean, they did feel a bit old and could use some updating.

One of the best Algarve resorts, Albufeira has wonderful beaches, turquoise waters and the dramatic, rocky coastline that makes this part of Portugal so special.
Naturally, life here is all about sun, sand and sea. The most popular Albufeira beach is Fisherman’s Beach and you can still see locals bringing in the fishing boats every morning - if you’re up early enough, that is. Tunnel Beach is accessed through an opening in the cliff, and both offer a variety of watersports.
Further up the coast is Albufeira Marina, from where sightseeing boat trips depart, while east of the town is the 9-hole Balaia golf course. On the way here, you pass Arias de Sao João, home to The Strip where the best bars and clubs are found, many staying open until the early hours.
The Old Town of Albufeira is more peaceful, and its cobbled streets house Moorish buildings and some great restaurants serving fresh fish. If you fancy a day trip from Albufeira, the 12th-century remains of Moorish Almoáda Castle in Paderne can be visited for free.
The town is around 45 minutes’ drive from Faro Airport and there is a fantastic range of beach resorts, small B&Bs and Albufeira apartments on Booking.com.

Picturesque nature and beautiful beaches.
Picturesque nature and beautiful beaches. The historic center is lovely. It might be better to visit during a warmer time of year, as the ocean is cool, with high waves and quite a lot of seaweed. However, the center is not very close to the property, so it's better to rent a car or take a taxi. The same applies to grocery supermarkets. But overall, we enjoyed everything.

The heat was too intense for me end of August making it difficult to do anything during the day.
If you want a relaxing holiday by the pool/beach and boat trips and sunbathing then this is a good choice. Pack your sun protection and be prepared for the heat.
This is a very touristy town although very pretty the old town is very busy with numerous eateries and bars. Very, very noisy at night so stay out of the town if you want peace and quiet to sleep. I would have stayed only couple of nights and moved on to a different area to explore Portugal further in retrospect.

Great restaurants, best prices just away from strip but huge...
Great restaurants, best prices just away from strip but huge choice of Restaurants. Tamariz on the Southwest corner of strip is still great especially for plate of the day, all the taxi drivers & locals eat there. Little cafe bakery on northwest side on main road, great value & great cakes. Widely available good wine €3 a glass or €5.50 1/2 Ltr, pint of beer on strip for €2.50.. easy to walk around but get a bolt/uber to old town & can walk back the beach towards Aura beach.
Download bolt app, cheapest way to travel, prices fluctuate but 3 to 5€ for most local trips just be ready & book from ur actual location as can be instant & charge small waiting fee, allow location detection. Boat trip for 2:5 hrs to caves well worth it, u might get some sea spray. Price around, look for vouchers, Tripadvisor prices good.

The beach area was fantastic.
The beach area was fantastic. There was an escalator to get down to the beach at one end and an elevator at the other end. There were a multitude of restaurants and cuisine to choose from whether at the beach or by the condo. We took advantage of the 2 day hop on bus which also included a boat tour to Benagil sea cave. Vistied the marina in Villamour and checked out the strip in Oura. There's something for everyone to do. We especially enjoyed Gourmet Churrasqueira on Rua do Cotovia multiple times. You can take out or sit down for the best BBQ piri piri chicken, ribs and fantastic wings. The Continente grocery store had everything you could need. The rooftop terrace above it had fantastic views and surprisingly a number of take out restaurants. Make a stop at the bakery in Sol Brisas Hotel for a pastry. The sweets were unbelievable.

Albufeira Old town was a bit of a shock to the system.
Albufeira Old town was a bit of a shock to the system. We went for 5pm drinks before dinner & it was already heaving. We then thought we’d go during the day ( around noon) & still really bustling. It has a good vibe if you’re up for it… we didn’t venture to the strip, but were warned that it would be like Ibiza turned up to 11.

Nice old town or the strip, the Marina very good to visit and plenty of nice beeches to visit.
Good boat trips to caves and see the dolphins.
Nice breeze stopped it being too hot although it meant outdoor pools and sea very cold at times.
For a solo traveler it's ideal. It's fantastic value for money, somewhere to drop your bags and shower and sleep is all I want from a room. Ideally situated between the new and old town so you've got the best of both worlds. Room was clean and spacious, also if you're leaving late there's somewhere to store your luggage. When I come back to Albufeira I wouldn't look to stay anywhere else
One final call out to Rita, a delightful young lady who has to be the most helpful member of staff I've ever come across
Beautiful hotel, prime location, food was absolutely fantastic, lots of choices, pool was lovely right on the beach , staff were very friendly , 5 mins walk to the bars on the strip, mega busy after ten , walk few mins along the beach to beautiful old town of 6 euros in taxi , so much to do an see in the old town ,fisherman’s beach is my favourite place .
great value for money - we went all inclusive at this property for the same price as similar hotels who didn’t offer this. Our room was freshly decorated and really clean. free shuttle to the old town. great location - walking distance to the main strip and the beach is on your doorstep.
Very strategic location close to the beach and old town,
