Although skiing is more beginner/intermediate it suited the group I travelled with. 25 years travelling to Austria and only Saalbach rates ahead of Solden and that is solely down to the skiing. Town and location are top class.

Our main goal was to see the 007 Elements exhibition on top of the mountain, it exceeded our expectations, the location is amazing, the views at 3040m altitude are breathtaking. The exhibition itself is interesting and modern, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Another highlight of this short trip was visiting the Stuibenfall waterfall in Umhausen, some 30km from Soelden. This is the tallest waterfall in Tirol (159m), and apparently brings health benefits due to the ionised air around it. To reach it, we passed through forest, a hanging bridge and 700 steps uphill. All well worth it.

The transport is excellent and free for the holders of the summer card. There is a good choice of restaurants which was helpful considering how awful our kitchen was. There is high class restaurant, Ötztaler Stube, expensive but worth the money - we celebrated a birthday there.
The town is not your cosy alpine village. It is full of big concrete buildings and the installations on the mountains slopes are ugly - lots of massive buildings and one wonders what for. But once you walk away form all that, the views are beautiful. There are several hikes with the lakes on the way. The hiking info could have been better. In Grossglockner area there are excellent small maps for the area with the description of most beatiful hikes. In Oetzal there are only panoramic drawings- The Kompass topo map is cut off right north of Soelden, dont miss Perlersee near Soelden but out of the map.
The adjacent villages of Vent and Obergurgl have several beautiful hikes too.

Sölden is a well known mountain resort.
Sölden is a well known mountain resort. It offers a myriad of entertainment activities and free access to many attractions including mountain cable cars/gondolas, if you are a guest staying in participating accommodation. It is, amongst other things a Nirvana for motorcyclists owing to its geography. One has trouble tiring of the network of twisty roads including the Timmelsjoch Strasse. For motorcycle enthusiasts, the Motorcycle Museum at the "Cross Point" of the Timmelsjoch is a must. The sheer number of bikes and vehicles is astounding.

Sölden is a great place to go for a ski holiday.
Sölden is a great place to go for a ski holiday. If you are with kids Giggijoch is where you want to ski as 3 ski schools are having their offices there.
If you prefer less beginners on the slops, the other gondolas to the left of Giggijoch are better.
There's plenty of accommodation, restaurants, supermarkets and ski rental shops in the village. Also doctors and pharmacies are available as well as pools and saunas.

Very modern and cozy, exceptionally clean, efficient and stylish furnishings. Nothing was amiss. Very friendly hosts. Very roomy ski room with heating.
Located right between the ski resorts of Sölden and Hochgurgl so you can get the best of both worlds.
Our group of five had a terrific time! Consider us huge fans of Hochstatt Appartments - we’d love to visit again next season!
Traditional cozy Austrian hotel. Close to the ski lift(Giggijochbahn) and central located but still peaceful away from the noisy bars.
Free entry to the local bath and sauna was included in the price and just a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Kind staff and very satisfied with the experience.
The hotel was fantastic. The staff was so helpful and really went out of their way. Monika at reception was outstanding. Best hotel I’ve been to in a while.
