It is more touristic than I thought, a bit overcrowded for my taste. One reason to not take the cable car up the mountain. If you like crowds and lots of restaurants you're at the right place. We had a good meal in Willingen.
We went to the hang bridge (Sky walk) nearby, we visited the Dimeltalsperre and we went shopping in Winterberg.

Willingen is a nice village located in stunning nature.
Willingen is a nice village located in stunning nature. But it nevertheless became a hotspot for stag and hen parties and the likes. If you're looking for a calm and quiet place you need to come in Novembre or February. But if you - like we did - are keen to combine outdoor sports with a vibrant nightlife you've come to the right spot.

Willingen has changed a lot In 1980-83 I was here nearly every Wedensday and Saturday Skiing. There is a lot more to do and see in Willingen. The hiking trails are great there are a lot of Mountain bike trails as well. One small point if you want to eat at one of the more well known resataurants at 19.00 make sure you reserve a table the day before.

The reason I choose this place was to spend some time with my family while skiing. The total absence of snow definitely influenced my perception of the place. In different circumstances, it would be different.

Beautiful, and affordable apartment. Very nicely decorated and super clean. The apartment was spacious and it has everything you need if you wanted to cook etc. Although I did not meet Nina in person, she was very helpful in answering our questions via Whatsapp. Marcel waited for us at the apartment to hand over the keys and gave us a tour/explanation of the place. We also received a free bottle of wine, homemade jam and a free Willingen card. I really liked this gesture as it was a really personal touch.
This hotel is correct but has none of the “little extras”. It was clean and has what you need. Our room was ok with a separate bedroom, small living room, sleeping area for the kids, a fridge and stove and a tiny bathroom.
The location is just outside the little village, it’s very quite. The breakfast was good.
Good beds, good kitchen, good wifi. Enough chairs, tables, screens for the windows. Friendly host, provided a parking card and Sauerland card for us.
The pool in the basement was lovely.
