It has an incredible Fastnacht celebration in February. Like Mardi Gras in the USA, it is celebrated during the last days before the start of Lent (Ash Wednesday). The parades are amazing with ancient wooden face masks and elaborate costumes representing the various regions.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a DORMERO hotel during my trip, and I must say that the reception staff truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The receptionists were not only professional, but she was also incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel right at home.
Nice little hotel just outside the city wall and just a few minutes walk from both the train station and the town centre. Easy to check in with a code for the key card and the room and bathroom was nice, comfy and clean. Friendly staff and good breakfast for a cheap price.
