The 2 castles and the museum were worth the visit.
The 2 castles and the museum were worth the visit. The lake was beautiful.
We spent 2 nights and one full day at Fussen.
To minimze the uphill walk, stop at the Marien Brucke (bridge), then downhill to Schloss Neuschwanstein. Afterward, continue to walk downhill toward Hohenschwangau Castle and the Museum of Bavarian Kings. Once back in the main hub, you will have to walk up a hill to get to Hohenschwangau Castle. However, this hill less steep and is shorter than the hill which Neuschwanstein is situated.
Coming from Munich, you have to transfer at Buchloe. Our train from Munich was late arriving at Buchloe for about 8 minutes. If the train from Buchloe to Fussen did not 'wait' , we would have been stuck at Buchloe for a few hours for the next train. Not a good thing as it was getting late in the evening.

Füssen is a beautiful town, the cobbled streets and well...
Füssen is a beautiful town, the cobbled streets and well maintained old buildings make it such a pleasure to wander around, along with really interesting shops and wonderful cafes. There is an amazing waterfall (Lechfall) about 20 minutes walk from the centre and great walks up into the hills around the town, all easily accessible. We ate delicious crepes in a bio-organic cafe, lovely meze in a Greek restaurant and beautiful grilled trout in a traditional Bavarian restaurant with wonderful beer! I've been to Füssen twice and would definitely like to visit again.

A very nice, clean, quiet hotel close to Füssen. Our group of 3 had 3 single rooms, and all rooms were clean & spacious. All three of us were very satisfied with this hotel and we will definitively stay here when we go here again. The staff members are very nice, friendly, competent, patient, and are dressed in traditional Bavarian clothes – which are nice to see instead of business suits & ties. The free parking was nice & convenient. A nice breakfast buffet too.
