Our stay at Cicada Lodge was truly exceptional. The lodge's stunning location above Katherine Gorge provided a peaceful atmosphere that made us feel completely immersed in nature. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like locally sourced toiletries and a private balcony to enjoy the sunset. The breakfast each morning was fantastic, offering a delicious selection of fresh, local ingredients to start the day perfectly.
What made our stay special was the outstanding service. Harry and Jasmine were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. Their warm hospitality made our visit even more enjoyable. Cicada Lodge is the perfect blend of luxury and nature.

We stayed in Katherine for one night at Gorge View, had a meal of crocodile and Barramundi at the Katherine Club on O'shea Terrace, next morning went to the Katherine Outback Experience which we thoroughly enjoyed and had lunch at the New Shanghai restaurant. Only regret is that we didn't visit the Katherine School of the Air.

Fantastic staff at the visitor information centre who were able to get me booked onto a Nitmulik Gorge Tour for the next morning. An absolutely beautiful space with amazing tour guide, Casey I think 🤔🙂

It was a room (upstairs) with a bed and a fridge but not much else. The shower's taps were a feet level with nothing to hold on to when stepping in. The plastic plant on the bedside table just took up space. The restaurant was very different - it was welcoming, clean and the food was very nice. We only stayed one night.

The gorge is a must, we did a half day kayak tour, highly recommended, short boat ride up the gorge to where they have the kayaks, then you set off on your own for a few hours, then back to the boat for the trip back.
Katherine Hot springs is a great place to visit just on the south side of town, walk up to the source of the springs and drift down through to the bottom.

As retirees we aim for one or two holiday activities per non travel day. Katherine has sufficient things going on for us to happily fill a 6 night stay here. We visited the museum, the Golf Club, Katherine Club, shopping centre, visitors centre. We went on excursions down the Katherine Gorge, Cutta Cutta Caves, Mataranka day trip ( Springs swim, museum, cemetery, billabong), Aboriginal Art Galleries, Australian Outback Experience.

We stayed in the Riverview Tourist Park for three nights, so we could walk to the hot springs, as it was only 500 metres away! That was a great experience and very relaxing! There are 2 pools - the upper and lower pools. The lower pools are easier to get in to and are even wheelchair accessible!
Visited Edith Falls which was an 3/4 hour drive. You can swim there and the picnic area is very nice and there is also a kiosk. There are also change rooms.
We attended the Outback Experience which was only 8 minutes away and we enjoyed the show and learnt a lot about training horses and dogs!
Absolutely loved our last day when we went on the 3 gorge cruise which lasted four hours. It took us half an hour to drive to Nitmiluk National Park. The cruise is relaxing although you do have to walk between the gorges! The scenery is amazing and the swim in the first gorge on the way back was fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend this cruise. It was a real highlight!
We have been staying in Katherine quite often last year and it was always hard if not impossible to find an affordable place that is nice.
The rooms a renovated and a good size. The bed was super comfy.
Staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Definitely gonna be our go to hotel in Katherine now if the prices don’t go thru the roof like all the other places. Brekky was good. Didn’t go for a swim but pool looked nice.
We had a very nice stay at Beagle Hotel. Our room was spacious and our bathroom was clean. Bed was comfy too. Swimming pool was also very clean. Location of Beagle Hotel is half an hour from the Nitmiluk Cruise Boat Ramp and a few minutes to the nearest Woolworths. We had a very lovely Crispy skin Barramundi at the hotel restaurant.
Cabin was basically clean, air conditioning worked well, plus a fan which we appreciated. It was handy to have the restaurant on site. Parking was good. Out of CBD, but a good location on the road to Katherine Gorge.
