Lovely old building with lots of character. Nice area to walk around. The restaurant which is owned separately to the hotel was fantastic - food and service. Nice hotel with beer garden just across the road.

The retreat was very well laid out , quiet and many luxuries. Only stayed 1 night so couldn’t make use of the pool. But otherwise the bed was comfortable.
Breakfast amazing especially to have it in a church.

We only had a day in Nelson after walking the Abel tasman but loved the day we had and wanted longer. We walked around the town centre checking out the op shops, they were great, well priced. We walked in the historical street, very interesting and had a good look outside and inside the cathedral, well worth a look. We caught the bus to the Classic car museum, also well worth a good couple of hours, we loved it! it even had the back to the future car! from there we walked to Totoranui beach where we enjoyed a lovely swim. A good day had by all!

Pleased with quick service of Smith and Smith to repair windscreen chipped on way up from Christchurch . We looked around museum while fixed . Bit disappointed we didn’t know Motueka was only open half day on Saturday . But KFC picnic at the Rose garden on the Main Street with our dog was good anyway .

Nelson has a very good car museum, and we'll worth a visit. Also their cafe is excellent. Highly recommend the mushroom and feta crepe. Yum! The centre of nelson Also has a sat market, local produce , etc, food stalls. until about 1pm. The beach is lovely ,but didn't have time to visit it. The area by the beach has tennis courts you can use, there is a bike track.small Zoo, mini golf. Cafe etc.child friendly. Just a great place to hang out. Good eating places in the area by the beach.

We left it quite late to book accommodation but in the end it worked out really well to have 3 different locations. We did so much in our 9 days, especially considering the weather wasn't always the best. A highlight in the city was the walk up the 'centre of NZ' and also the Myazu Japanese gardens. We can absolutely recommend Kimchi & Wasabi in Trafalgar Street - the best lunch we have had since Melbourne. Also Taaj Indian in Tahunanui Drive - really good food. Get the honey cauliflower.

Nelson was a delight to visit rain or shine.
Nelson was a delight to visit rain or shine. Plenty to see if wet and even more when the weather is fine. The city centre is vibrant and an excellent selection of cafes, restaurants and bars. 8 Plates and Hopgoods are excellent restaurants.

Avner was a wonderful host - and we were very fortunate to have the property to ourselves, it was a wonderful stop in the middle of our New Zealand adventure. Nelson is a fantastic place, it reminds us of all the good things of days gone by. And Avner's bnb is a very special place, the views, the eco environment and the cosy but luxurious feel. The little kitchen area was a great extra so we could eat in on the first evening and watch the sun go down. We won't forget our great weekend in Nelson.
The only good thing about this property was that it was quite close to the city centre and other places like the Christ Church Cathedral, the Centre of New Zealand monument and a few other places. However, since one would drive to Nelson anyway, anyone can make that drive from anywhere else even stayed out of town, so this place was absolutely not worth it.
Excellent hotel easy walking distance all around Nelson. Lovely views from balcony and also breakfast/dining room over the tidal river absolutely beautiful to eat there. Warm good size swimming pool and nice loungers. Excellent pressure on shower and lovely spa bath. Good size room. Very quiet area
Staff were amazing very knowledgeable about Nelson and if we had any questions or issues the operator was very happy to answer or to help very welcoming and exceptionally clean and we even got fresh towels and room serviced daily
Air NZ cancelled the last flight out of Nelson, and The Hotel Nelson was a last minute need. The staff were extremely welcoming, the room perfect value for money, and the restaurant provided an excellent meal
