FAQs about hotels in Strasbourg

Crossroads of European Culture

Situated on the banks of the River Rhine, Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region of France. The medieval city centre, Grande Île, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and houses the glorious sandstone Strasbourg Cathedral and picturesque timber-framed buildings.

The Cathedral of Our Lady is the tallest medieval building in Europe and one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture. It features a remarkable façade, one of the largest astronomical clocks in the world, stunning stained glass windows, and a terrace with panoramic city views.

Enjoy a pleasant walk in the medieval streets of the old town, or visit the charming Petite-France district. Here are some of the range of Strasbourg restaurants serving Alsatian specialities like beef and pork stew with potatoes and carrots, accompanied by local beer and regional white wine.

At the crossroads of European culture, cosmopolitan Strasbourg is home to numerous international organisations including the European Parliament, as well as one of the oldest European universities.

Strasbourg International Airport is easily reached from other international airports, so book your hotel, apartment or bed and breakfast through Booking.com and experience an unforgettable stay.

    Pretty dull.

Pretty dull. Not surprised the EU parliament hates making the trip. Culturally, it cannot make up its mind if it's French or German or other. Kind of schizophrenic. Downtown was touristy as one would expect. The side streets were a bit better, but even the locals sems to regret having to live there. Would I visit again? Yes, if I had business. Otherwise, there is a hundred better cities I can think of. The standard Alsace rainy weather did not help.

Lovely town, beautiful cathedral and museums (Alsace Museum and Rohan Museum are a must). But there is also the St. Pierre Le Jeune Church and St. Paul Church. Both worth visiting. Strasbourg is more than the city center and the museums; it has different neighborhoods so take the time to visit them all. Lots of tourists so get out early if you don't like masses. The whole town is walkable, no need to take a bus/tram. Grande Rue is the main shopping street, but do go into the side streets as there are lovely little shops. 3 days is enough to discover Strasbourg, Colmar and the surroundings, all accessible by train.

Strasbourg is charming, romantic, beautiful, and slow paced. One of my favorite stops on vacation. Getting around was very easy. Every place we ate was delicious, L’Octoberfest and La Cintra were recommended to us by hotel host. The Norte Dame Cathedral was a must see and the museum of Alsace.

We were in Strasbourg for two days, enough time for us to see all the major sites and even take a boat ride. The old town area is very clean, safe and walkable. The tram is convenient, but we preferred walking. There are plenty of restaurants, but we felt that prices were a bit high with daily menus (3 items) for 20 to 40 euros. Good food and they were mostly very busy. English is spoken by most service staff, taxi drivers were an exception. The cathedral is very busy, but other very interesting churches are not busy at all and are worth visiting.

Strasbourg is a beautiful historical city. The transport system in the city is wonderful. I loved riding on the trams. The staff at the tourist office were very helpful. Reductions for being over 60 at museums. Wonderful artisan bread and cheese. Loved the Alsatian Pino Noir.

We used the map (1.50 euro) from the Strasbourg Tourist Office to do our own self-guided tour of the old town in the morning then did a 1h15 Batorama river cruise in an open-topped riverboat in the afternoon which was well worth the money (15.75 euro per person). You need to allow plenty of time to view the Strasbourg Cathedral of Notre-Dame both inside and out - the Astronomical Clock inside is a must see!

What a gem of a small hotel with a super authentic home-cooked regional traditional restaurant. Family-run, this motel-style hotel has an old-school charm and lovely welcoming staff and an excellent breakfast, with whole local cheese rounds, freshly prepared pâtés, cremant, champagne….. Beautifully quiet in a leafy suburb of Strasbourg, away from the bustle of the city centre, only a 20 minute walk from the main station.

the location was great. a 10 minute walk into the centre of Strasbourg along the river and through a park area. Excellent with a dog. Car park also was much closer to the hotel than was led to expect from the website. Also the photo on google maps is shocking and very outdated. It should be changed immediately. It nearly stopped me booking.
