We had a very pleasant stay at Orée Du Bois. The cabin is located right under the snowy mountains and has many facilities for a long stay in summer or winter. The host was nice and welcoming and we felt very comfortable.
yes the furniture is old but that's the beauty of it. it depends what you are looking for or what you expect, but the apartment can accommodate 4 or 5 people and you have many things at your disposal to have a pleasant stay. The train station and bus station are 3 minutes away and you are close to many hiking trails.
it is true that you have to climb some stairs to get to the apartment, but they are safe and not many.
thank you for hosting us!

Lovely well equipped studio, with stunning views and everything you need for a stay in Les Houches. Few minutes walk from the bus stop. A convenient supermarket is within walking distance. Also short walk to the train station. The studio is extremely clean and everything was new. We met the host Sabrina and Guillaume who were very friendly and most accommodating. We would highly recommend their place and hope to return again sometime 😊

The staff were understanding, accommodating and friendly. The size of the chalets and views were great.
Excellent Tourist Office. Town quieter and friendlier than Chamonix. Two good access points to the middle mountains for hiking. Bus system excellent, buses ran every 30 minutes while we were there. Quite walkable to the train station, as well.

Very nice area with beautiful mountain views, right under the famous Mont Blanc, easy to access quite a lot of ski lifts taking you up to the ski slopes. Very high level professional ski slopes
Les Houches' downside is their council operated facilities have arrogant staff (not including the cashier staff who are very nice). Ski slopes sign posts are very very badly done and very unclear. Maps are not nicely done not clear.

I never been treated so bad by a receptionist like in this...
I never been treated so bad by a receptionist like in this hotel. I called in the afternoon trying to find out how to get there from a sports event I was attend in Chamonix, and besides saying that this was not her problem, she turned the phone off on my face. I walked for 1h20 with my bags in the middle of the night to get there. Next day I explained the reason I could not stay the 2nd night, and she prompt said she would refund me. After quite few emails and now answer, I left a review here explaining other people that if you dont have a car, its impossible to reach the place (but they do not mention this on the hotel description). So today I called the hotel to follow up about my refund and the lady she screamed at me on the phone. She said because of my review, she would not refund. And again, that was my problem how I would get to the hotel. She turned the phone off on my face again. Never had such treatment in years booking hotels for my sports events.
I would like to let everyone knows about this situation, so no one can be fooled like I was.

Great place for all the family to ski together from the oldest in our group at 64 to the youngest at 6. All our kids and grandkids have learned to ski here, with a variety of slopes and challenges for everyone. We like the Kitch Inn restaurant in the village amongst others.
Been coming here for the last 15 yrs

This is a great little apartment in Les Houches, minutes from the Prarion Gondola, ski hire and a great boulangerie for coffee, cakes and essentials. It is small, but has everything you need, great heating, a lovely heated pool on premise, and very kind owners and managers, who were lovely to deal with and very helpful. Les Houches is part of Chamonix valley with a free bus taking you to ski at other parts of the valley, but we actually preferred Les Houches so by the end of the week were just skiing there.
From the moment we arrived, the staff we lovely, particularly Carole and Marco. Our bed was extremely comfortable, and the towels were very thick and luxurious. The food was fabulous and the breakfast was very plentiful regardless of what time we arrived. The hotel is very child friendly and it was amazing to see little ones also enjoying themselves. So much to love about this hotel and how close it is to Chamonix.
Great value but very clean and well presented with attractive decor and a relaxed atmosphere. Food, including a varied breakfast, was excellent. Bar staff friendly with a good wine selection. They also had 6 Nations rugby on at the weekend! Easily walkable to the main lift for Les Houches, ski hire shops and the bars/restaurants of the village.
This hotel promises a serene retreat with stunning views and a focus on wellness, from its restful rooms to its nutritious cuisine. The opportunity to wake up to such scenery, followed by enjoyable meals, would likely make for a highly recommended stay in Chamonix for those looking to immerse themselves in the alpine experience.
Very close to the gondola, which made getting up the mountain easy. Frequent buses only 5 mins away to get to Chamonix and other places in Les Houches. Very comfortable sofa bed and good cooking facilities. Balcony with excellent view of the mountain and sunrise. Ski locker in front of the door saved time and money.
