The property and its grounds were stunning. The attention to detail and personalisation was outstanding. The manager of the hotel gave us a tour of the building and grounds with information about its history which was really interesting and added a special touch. We were welcomed with exceptional service (and a complimentary arrival drink) and genuinely felt like nothing was too much for the staff. The room was decorated to perfection and had everything you’d think of needing. You have personal use of the spa area by giving a little notice which is something we’ve never had before. The grounds, decor, staff and breakfast were all perfect and genuinely can’t be faulted. We can’t wait to stay again in summer!

We spent 3 nights at La Traverse. A prime reason for staying there was that its restaurant (which had good reviews) was open for 2 of of our nights. It is a popular restaurant with locals and you are supposed to book. Staying at the hotel gave me the false impression that we could just wander into the dining room. No, it was full. In the end we ate at a table in the reception area. The food was good. But the next night - despite what it said on Booking - its restaurant was closed. We ate at a Thai restaurant 10 minutes walk away. Our final night the restaurant was also closed and so was the Thai place and indeed every restaurant in town.. We were forewarned about this so bought a pizza while we wandered round Sarlat and ate that cold in our room.

Clean, quiet and comfortable for a solo traveler. Room would be a bit cramped for two. Staff was friendly and efficient. I needed dinner after the kitchen was closed, but staff went out their way to accommodate my needs. Good conversation with other guests. Easy parking and well located on main road into the town...so easy to find arriving after dark. Good breakfast too.
