Maria Julia was very attentive and made us bespoke foods for breakfast that was accommodating for vegans. Excellent coffee. Beautiful hotel with a lot of potential - it isn't quite finished yet with lots of spaces yet to be utilised but it's going to be really lovely once it's complete.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable with blackout curtains.

If you are visiting the islands of Cabo Verde, do Praia first. The beaches are a far cry from the ones in Boa Vista or Sal. It is nice to go to Cidade Velha which is a UNESCO site 12km away. It is really picturesque and is the first place the portugese landed in 1462. Absolutely worth a visit.

I would have spent 3 days there maximum and spent the other 4 days in Tarrafal, instead.
In general I enjoyed my stay there, but Tarrafal it’s a different world, where you can actually feel the culture and be surrounded with beauty. Cidade abelha is also a must and it’s absolutely beautiful.
I would have loved to manage to see the typical ceramics, but people don’t talk much and don’t value much (unfortunately). I actually went to Sai Domingos on purpose to see it, but the locals said it was closed.

Praia is the capital of Cape Verde.
Praia is the capital of Cape Verde. The Santiago island is not the best if you are looking for a great beach experience. There are other islands with easy access that have superb beaches. We did a tour around the island which was interesting visiting Cidade Velha and Tarrafal as well as Sao Vicente. Tarrafal was a nice beach. The two main markets in Praia are a must see, also where you can buy some mementos.

The whole staff has been extremely kind and welcoming. We were travelling with our 9 months old daughters and they have been very nice to us and to her. The hotel is equipped with high chairs and they provided a cradle for our staying.
