The decor in the hotel was quite interesting, room was very spacious and bed was quite comfortable, breakfast had a wide variety of options. Overall very good for our stay in Perugia. Walking to the city center can be a bit of a challenge for some as all the way is uphill especially with the hot weather

This is quite a unique hotel, and not just because of the fun chocolate theme. It is quite close to the pedestrianised tourist area (10 minute bus ride then an interesting escalator/lift combo) and it has a swimming pool and small garden on the roof. None of the very central hotels has a similar roof pool as far as I am aware. The room was ok but not great. The breakfast was outstanding - and we stayed at a lot of hotels on a cycling touring holiday.
Take a dip in the indoor swimming pool with glass floor, revealing 3,000-year-old Etruscan ruins. Just one of the luxuries you will enjoy at Hotel Brufani Palace.

The ancient Etrurian city of Perugia forms a unique and romantic pattern, and is surrounded by green hills. Take the escalators, go up to the Rocca, and admire the panorama of juxtaposed layers of churches and ‘palazzi’ built during thousands of years. Perugia’s Old Town still houses several hotels and restaurants that are centuries old.
The city has a vibrant cultural life and is home to several important institutions, such as the renowned local university, the University for Foreigners, and other institutes. The International Journalism Festival, the Umbria Jazz, and the Eurochocolate Festival are major annual activities. Check the hotel availability in advance if you’re planning to visit Italy and Perugia around those dates.

I loved the medieval nature of Perugia.
I loved the medieval nature of Perugia. I loved trying new restaurants, hotel breakfasts, teas and walking up and down the winding roads.
Lago Trasimeno was murky, warm (w dead fish in it) with a nasty, mucky shoreline. The ferry trip to Isla Maggiore was great, as was hiking to St Michael the Archangel chapel to see the ancient frescos. Lovely island worth the visit.
Have breakfast and tea/dessert at Hotel Brufani! LaTaverna was excellent for dinner. We stayed away from the tourist trap cafes in the central plaza area.
Go see Riccardo at Lemmi Sartoria for a custom shirt, suit or jacket! Well worth the price. He was amazing.
Cooking class by Ceasarine cancelled due to family death when we arrived, so the paid taxi there and back was a waste. I was not notified of the cancelled class until I arrived, contrary to what TripAdvisor states. It really messed up chances to fly out early, etc by not being informed the night before when Ceasarine said she told TripAdvisor.

I really enjoyed the Art Museum and shopping experience.
I really enjoyed the Art Museum and shopping experience. I also had a couple of fabulous meals and enjoyed a relaxing time in the piazza with fresh squeezed orange juice. I walked around a lot and experienced the public market on Saturday. I would have enjoyed more than my 1.5 day stay, but it was enough to give me a feel for the place. l

It is a wonderful historic city.
It is a wonderful historic city. Although it is perched on high ground it is very accessible through public escalators in various parts of the city and with a minimetro from the Perugia station right up to the top at a very small price. Very convenient.
This is an excellent small hotel right in the center of town. The staff, especially Samantha, went out of their way to help with everything from restaurant bookings to things to do while in town. The room was very large, a suite that we were upgraded to, clean and very comfortable - it had two full bathrooms too!! The breakfast is very good (which can be a struggle in Italy especially if you're trying to keep your sugar intake down!) and the location is brilliant. Next time we are here we will be staying here!!
Pleasantly surprised to find breakfast provided in the room and replenished every day. A very satisfying croissant and French toast with jam. Delicious.
Short, atmospheric walk to the main centre. Perugia not suitable for the immobile and the hotel did have two flights of stairs but easy steady climb and worth it for the bedroom views.
Kettle and fridge in the room and the most amazing shower. Really comfy bed. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Good option for anyone wanting to visit Perugia and arriving by car, the location is ten minutes away on foot from the start of the escalators taking to the city centre and a few metres away from a bus stop for anyone not wanting to exert themselves. The hotel feels a bit dated but functional, the staff is friendly and the Italian style breakfast buffet well stocked.
Location is very central in old city centre near restaurants etc.
Hotel service was good and they were very helpfull.
Few minutes away there is an escalator that takes you to a Mini Metro station/service which takes you to the train station. From the train station (Perugia station) you can travel around to different locations nearby.
