We enjoyed our 1-night stay at Hotel Europa while visiting Perugia. The staff were all very nice, and they let us park at the hotel early, before check-in, so we could visit the city. The building is historic, so take that into consideration as renovations could be helpful but may be very difficult for the hotel to do (due to bureaucracy). The room was decent, with high ceilings and a great view, but it was a bit drafty, especially with a windy night. The bed was comfy as well, and good water pressure in the shower. The breakfast was nice, with lots of options from breads/pastries, to yogurt, to homemade cakes. We also appreciated that the hotel is dog-friendly, and in a great location--right across from a bus stop and several sets of stairs to various areas in the amazing city of Perugia.

The ancient Etrurian city of Perugia forms a unique and romantic pattern, and is surrounded by green hills. Take the escalators, go up to the Rocca, and admire the panorama of juxtaposed layers of churches and ‘palazzi’ built during thousands of years. Perugia’s Old Town still houses several hotels and restaurants that are centuries old.
The city has a vibrant cultural life and is home to several important institutions, such as the renowned local university, the University for Foreigners, and other institutes. The International Journalism Festival, the Umbria Jazz, and the Eurochocolate Festival are major annual activities. Check the hotel availability in advance if you’re planning to visit Italy and Perugia around those dates.

Perugia was a very special city for us, it has a great atmosphere with many beautiful little streets, buildings, and nice people. Simply walking around the city center is a wonderful pastime. Of course, there are many typical Italian cafes and restaurants, but you can also find very good international cuisine (e.g. Japanese, Chinese). Getting around the city with the escalators and the minimetro is very funny. In winter, 2 days are more than enough to see the main sights of the city, but in summer we will definitely come back for the Umbria jazz festival.

Spend some time wandering around the back streets and you can find some beautiful views and interesting architecture. Go to the Terazza Del Mercato for some great views, preferably at sunset. Its an easy place to get around and parking is easy at Saba Viale Pellini where you can pay by card and escalators take you up into the centre

Perugia was a delightful experience.
Perugia was a delightful experience. The historic center has very beautiful churches, public buildings and museums. The Perugia underground was a surprise bonus. We used Perugia as our base for a nearly three week stay visiting six hill towns in Umbria. Accessibility to several closely towns is excellent due to train and bus service avso.

Perugia is a wonderful hill city in Umbria, not too touristy...
Perugia is a wonderful hill city in Umbria, not too touristy as it is a University town. It's accessible by bus and train - cars have limited access but there are escalators up from the major access points. It has a wide range of neighbourhoods that reflect different aspects of the community and a history that stretches from pre-history/Etruscans/Romans/medieval until today. The main drag from Rocca Paolina down to Fontana Maggiore gives you everything from shops, restaurants, many within beautiful medieaval buildings. We recommend you visit as it is easily walkable in a few days, but for those who don't like hills or have trouble walking, there are the escalators as well as tours/bus trips that will take you around all the important sites. The food is wonderful and the restaurants affordable, coffee and cakes amazing and super helpful, warm people - we had a great time.

We used Perugia as a base for visiting other areas of Umbria. Other cities would have been just as beneficial.
the historic part of the city is very interesting and has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
The Tourist information in the library was very helpful.
at first the city was very confusing re: public transportation . We didn't know how to get to the historic centre and the city buses were a few minutes walk from the main station. Once we learned how to use the mini-metro, it was very convenient to get from the historic centre to the train station and back.

We only stayed for two days before moving on to a wedding and so did not have time to explore as much as we would have liked. There is an underground city which we would have liked to have seen but were not able to. It is at the opposite end of the Piazza from the Cathedral

The hotel is in a brilliant location & beautifully renovated. We booked a king room, and the bed was very comfortable with a lovely balcony area overlooking the rooftops nearby. Breakfast plentiful, good range of options to choose from. We had a warm welcome at reception, and the room was ready earlier than the noted check in . Perugia itself was a revelation, all the main attractions near the hotel. Fantastic architecture, great restaurant opposite the hotel & numerous buzzy bars within walking distance.
I loved this hotel - tucked away in a quiet side street but right next to the main square, brilliantly located. The room was a nice size and very comfortable. Staff were always helpful and I was impressed by the breakfast options. I also loved the stonework in the corridors, the beautiful reading room and the roof terrace where we enjoyed drinking wine and admiring the views across Perugia and the surrounding Umbrian hills.
Great location in the centre. Amazing shower. Very comfortable bed & great bed linen. Had the best night’s sleep here.
Although noise from the square, the windows blocked out the majority of this.
Huge room.
Really good breakfast.
Although the hotel has unfinished works this didn’t impact on our stay.
Would definitely stay here again if visiting Perugia and would highly recommend.
This hotel never disappoints. It is a classic grand hotel, with professional and friendly staff, a very good restaurant, and excellent facilities. It is right in the centre of Perugia, and hence in a great central location for the museums, the beautiful shops and all the historical sites.
Fantastically situated for the city centre. Lovely staff who were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely use the hotel again if we go back to Perugia.
