Check in was easy. Only waited for 10 mins for the shuttle, took 6 mins to check in and that was with a room switch, as my legs were sore, I didn’t want to be upstairs. So, they gave me a room on the main level, very close to the lobby. Excellent service. Room cost more than I wanted to pay, but it was close to the airport and I had a flight the next morning. So worked out paying 30 more overnight.

Excellent place to stay before / after a flight. 20 mins drive from the airport but means you are in beautiful surroundings - trails through woods, nice gardens and views. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The whole building has been adapted to a hotel without losing the feel of a family-owned home with cozy nooks and crannies as well as a cute little courtyard where breakfast is served. The breakfast menu offered local and American style breakfast with fresh juice, good coffee and a nice fruit plate. The room was quiet and comfortable with a nice firm mattress on the bed and constant hot water.

Love this place! It's got a post-colonial/Graham Greene/Early Bond vibe going on. The kind of place where the CIA would meet shady local informants to do deals but in very cool surroundings. It's totally incongruous as well, off what is essentially a loud, busy ring road there's this oasis of calm and cool. Think wood paneling, low lighting with a scattering of objects d'art around and maybe a martini or two and you've got the vibe. Awesome place and would 100% recommend.

This is very close to SJO Airport.
This is very close to SJO Airport. Great for before or after flights for that reason (I stayed after and before flights). Alajuela street layout is easy to navigate. Tons of restaurants and shops in the vicinity.

I think most travelers would not spend more than two nights in Alajuela- 1 inbound and 1 outbound.
I spent 5+2 nights in Alajuela while I was getting ready for my family members' visits spread over a few days.
Our "suburban" enclave was up-to-date with modern facilities, and close to Alajuela near the Freeway 1.
The location where we stayed was "authentic" with a tiny super, a cute bakery, a soda, and the most delightful neighbors.
I could almost stay to learn the language. :0

I stayed pretty close to a large shopping mall--just a few blocks away--so the restaurant options were great. I ate at "Mahalo"--great poke! The house is within a few miles of the airport, so getting there only cost 3 colones, and I took a Tuasa bus (for about two dollars) to get to Alajuela from downtown San Jose. The only "negative" is that there were traffic sounds, but they settled down when it got later. I would definitely stay in Alajuela again. I felt completely safe walking back alone at night after dinner.

The area is fun and easy to get around.
The area is fun and easy to get around. There are many small stores, but no good supermarkets. TONS of cafes and fast food places, so getting something to eat is easy. I'd go there again, but there's not a ton to do unless you enjoy sitting in parks, which I do.

I only walked around the immediate area of the hotel . I had no need to explore the town as I had a demanding schedule upon arrival and prior to departure . This was just super convenient to the airport.
The best Hotel!
All was clean, nicely done and prepared. The owners are super helpful and friendly. My bag was damaged and the lady sewed it for me!! What a great service. They took care of a taxi, which they called for me the next day. Wonderful place, next to supermarket and restaurants. Quite zone. Close to the airport. The price is worth it.
I recommend it for women who travel alone. It is a safe area and the hotel is secure.
It was a good typical breakfast. The pool was lovely and the view spectacular. The staff were friendly. Not their issue that the rooms shown when booking are not the room given on arrival. They are doing their best. This place has huge potential if managed correctly. Money needs to be invested. The Mirador del Valle restaurant is 300 meters from hotel. Same gorgeous view, excellent service and the food was amazing.
This is a great option if you need accomodation close to the airport. Everybody was very nice, the street was quiet but still very close to everything you might wanna do in Alajuela. It was also very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was good information about things to do and places to get food.
Very cute hotel - just what we needed. The breakfast was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the courtyard was a great place to hang out. The hotel was centrally located in the city center of Alajuela, and a short drive from the airport. Would return when I come back to Alajuela!
