This place is really beautiful, and the staff are so lovely and make you feel at home. The breakfast is amazing, make sure you don’t miss it, it’s so tasty and fresh! The youngest boy was especially so polite and really made our days greeting us and bringing us our breakfasts. Such a lovely family!

My stay at Kolagji Hotel was excellent. Rooms were clean and spacious. The food was delicious. Service at the restaurant was exceptional. It is located in front of the sea. There are a few minimarkets very close by.

Himara is a perfect location for summer vacation. There are many beaches and most of them are walking distance from each other. Himara offers a lots of bars and restaurants so the nights are not boring and you have something to do and places to go. I really enjoyed the trip to Porto Palermo Castle and the Potami beach. I love Llamani and Livadhi beach but unfortunately I didn’t have time to visit them during my trip.

Beaches are not great.
Beaches are not great. City is dirty, you can smell the garbage. Pretty hard to park the car, we had to use the car to visit different beaches(about 6km away from Himare). Next day we took the car and ate 60 km away in Sarande,

Honestly, we had higher expectations.
Honestly, we had higher expectations. Himare left us a picture af an ordinary town, nothing special and, have to say, mostly dirty with smell and rubbish. Mabe some development may come, however this year we did not enjoyed it and literaly ran away whenever possible - should it be beaches (Livadhi) or just for a walk (Qeparo).
Would definitely explore some other locations next time.
Good thing is /and that was the reason we chose this location) - very close to wonderfull mountains, Gjirokastra and to meny nice beaches.

It's a bit more relaxed than Ksamil but it still has plenty of restaurants, beach clubs, sun beds etc. It's a stoney beach and the sea can look a little greenish at times. I can't say it's my favourite beach in the world, but it has nice vibes.

It's quite small, not as deveoped as other places but in danger of becoming so. The beaches are shingle or pebble but without shade. Buy a sun umbrella for 1000 lek, cheaper than hiring sunbeds and umbrellas every day. The beach shelves deeply and you're out of your depth very quickly so not great for non-swimmers.
Restaurants are much of a muchness, ok but nothing special. I won't care if I don't see another Greek salad for a while! I thought Portokallo, in the opposite direction to the bus station was cheap and friendly with ok food.
Prices are higher than inland.
The 'bus station' is the road outside BIG Supermarket. Use Girafa timetable for times of buses to Tirana, Sarande etc.

Himare felt as a village what is not prepared for a summer season. The main beach was unmainteined without real infrastructure around. You can park in front of it, but for the rest there is not much to do there.
The views are incredible and the water is amazingly blue!
Hotel Potami Beach is perfect for a stay in Himare! You should book a room with seaview - the water is so clean that you can see every rhinestone even from the third floor and the most amazing sunset every evening. The rooms are simply but functionally furnished. Umbrella plus two sunbeds are included in the room rate. No breakfast but you can order breakfast in the restaurant.
It's only a few steps to the beach which was not very crowded as high season was already over.
The view from the room was stunning, the room and was modern and very clean. It had a mini fridge, small lights (not common in Albania) and shower which could be closed (Also not common in Albania). The hotel had sunbeds which could be used for free, the sea was literally right by the hotel so getting to beach took like 1 minute down the stairs. Close to Filikuri beach, which was the best beach we saw during our trip.
Fun, social hostel. Easy to make friends. Staff are nice. Free breakfast is good. Boat party is sick. Located right across from a beach, and close to Filikuri, the best one. Drinks and chat happen every night, then head down to the beach at 11. Gotta stay here if you're coming to Himare. What it was famous for amongst travelers in Albania is no longer a thing weewooweewoo
We had a great stay in Belvedere. The host is very nice and in difference to most places in Albania the garden is nicely taken care of. Nice rooms, showers, beds and convenient access to perfect beaches. We had very nice breakfasts at the hotel.
Very comfortable rooms and beautiful hotel with amazing private beach. In a quieter beach with a few restaurants but very close to Himare for a day trip
