Under the circumstances we were there from Australia as my beautiful mum was very ill. So to have had this wonderful apartment that was so close to everything and just a few minutes drive to visit my mum in frail care was a God send.
Hermanus is and always be a favourite place for me. It is a place to enjoy in every aspect. Restaurants are superb, the supermarkets a treat to shop in. The whales in the whale season is something else to witness. So much to do and see and close enough to drive to nearby towns and of course Cape Town City.

Hermanus is a very busy place over December. To stay just outside the town in Sandbaai was very nice. Everything you need you can find in Hermanus and it has a great atmosphere over December holidays.

Hermanus is one of the best places to visit when in the Western Province. Lovely walkway, good restaurants and stunning beaches. Fick's Pool Restaurant and Lizette's Kitchen Restaurant are a must! Also enjoyed the Wine hopper to all the wine farms, very well organised. September excellent time for whale watching. Beautiful views from the mountain top.

We liked the facilities and atmosphere of Hermanus, although the better accommodation is expensive, which is why we stayed in Sandbaii.
Parking was available whenever we drove to Hermanus.
The coastal path from Hermanus to Grotto Beach was well marked and would be even better when the new section omitting the road is completed. Lunch at Dutchies was great.
We enjoyed our tour of the nearby Hemel-en-Aarde wine region. We had a great light lunch and wine tasting at Bosmans.
We also enjoyed our walk in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve on the edge of town.
Unfortunately, arriving in the first week of November, we were too late to see any whales.

Hermanus is a great little town with some great beaches, a wonderful cliff path, whales to watch in season and so many restaurants, we lost count! We ate dinner at Theo's Taverna which we can highly recommend for their fabulous food and atmosphere and friendly service. We ate lunch at Just Pure Bistro which was good but very expensive. It is very easy to drive around Hermanus. I would recommend doing the morning kayak tour starting from the Old Harbour, we've done this previously and loved it. I also highly recommend lunch and wine tastings in the Hemel en Aarde valley.

Hermanus is, like Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, is a must see for anyone loving the best wine and restaurants (in the most beautiful environment).
But for wine, hiking, swimming, golf and shopping should form part of your itinerary.

I love the Spanish design of this hotel and the convenient location. Good service and fairly priced. The rooms are spacious and we even got a complimentary bottle of wine on our return visit. The clothes and suitcase space between the bathroom and main room also works for me. This is my first choice of hotel in Hermanus.
The rooms were enormous and very comfortable, the dining room was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful especially Michaela and Gaynor. We enjoyed playing tennis on the court which has amazing views. It was such a relaxing and calm hotel to stay in. 10 minute drive into hermanus.
Lovely boutique hotel right next to the Hermanus centre! The room has amazing sea views with a nice balcony and all the necessary amenities. Everything is clean, fresh and well thought! The lovely manager, Gilbert, made our stay even more enjoyable thanks to his help and friendliness !! The breakfast is great
The hotel staff were amazing, helpful and friendly. the rooms had an amazing view of the ocean and rooms were stunning. if i could have extended my stay, i definitely would have as i enjoyed every second and hermanus is such a beautiful place.
would highly recommend staying at Misty Waves
