The pools were warm, beds were very big and there was even a jacuzzi and living area and sitting area outside were enjoyable. If it was not for the inconvenience at check in would have rated the property 9/10

What a delightful stay we had. We were surrounded by nature and the most beautiful mountain views. The pool provided welcome relief from the hot December/January days and the sheltered braai was superb. The breathtaking early morning hikes on the trails were the perfect start to our days. With the retreat close to Montague, we could explore the nearby wine- and fruit farms of Robertson and Ashton. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well-equipped cottage. Thank you, Nic, Nina, and Mary-Ann, for being the perfect hosts.

This is an outdated and run-down resort.
This is an outdated and run-down resort. Payment for the pools needs to be included in the accommodation or you pay for a weekly pass upon checking in. Staff is friendly. The roads in the resort are hazardous (multiple Tripping hazards).

Montagu was very much an unknown jewel for us.
Montagu was very much an unknown jewel for us. Our stay-over enabled us to only just begin discovering some of the beauty and expanse of this quaint town.
It begs for more time and more exploration.
I recommend obtaining one of the town's tourism maps at the beginning of your stay (or preferably while you're planning), so that you can really get to know what is available here to see, do and experience.

The Barn on the outskirts of Montagu was an excellent place for breakfast. Delicious food in a lovely shady setting and even pet friendly (for dogs on leads). Cape Dry Fruit was a great place to visit for well priced dried fruit and nuts.

Montagu is a picturesque town nestled between the mountains.
Montagu is a picturesque town nestled between the mountains. A cool late afternoon mountain breeze is refreshing. Montagu is well-kept, and the architecture consists of both old and new designs. The restaurants serve delicious food. Montagu is well situated and the neighbouring towns are not that far away. Really worth the drive from Johannesburg.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Montagu
We book quite regularly at the resort. However, we do prefer to stay at Avalon Springs (Hotel). Everything is just awesome. Also, the way access to the hot pools was controlled by security, for those who were not residents at Avalon Springs - that was admirable. Avalon Springs really go the extra mile for their guest and it is appreciated. Definitely going to be booking soon again. See you soon!!
The venue is beautiful. Tastefully done. Set in an olive farm and close to restaurants.
The hosts were great and very informative. Lots of hikes and bike routes around the beautiful town of Montagu.
Drive down the Koo Valley pass into Montagu if you can as it gives you an idea of the exquisite surroundings
Farmlike setting in town.
Alpaca's feeding out of our hands.
Gardens are amazing.
Like a family holiday home, so very well set up.
Resident staff are fantastic with fresh cut roses in vases all over the house & bedrooms.
