Everything about my stay was wonderful. The room was incredibly spacious and had everything possible to make it superb. Fabulous bed, wonderful shower, exceptional facilities but the main positive was the attention to detail. So much thought has gone into everything from the complementary Muscadel, different coffee options, to the homemade biscuits, I didn't want to leave my room! Not to mention the incredible breakfast box that was so beautifully put together and held delicious treats (muesli, fruit, juice) including beautifully wrapped banana bread for my trip home ('padkos'). Stacey, you offer an incredible stay that anyone travelling to Mc Gregor would be lucky to enjoy. Thank you and I'll be back!

McGregor is a charming hamlet, a bit off of but always included as part of a Route 62 trip itinerary - for good reason! Green Gables is on the south side of the village, perched on a gentle hill giving a northern view downslope over a large field that is part of the property's grounds. I had the easternmost unit, separate from the main building where breakfast is served. My breakfast was cooked to order. The accomodation itself was large, light, airy, very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Plus, I had a secure private drive allowing me to park adjacent to the unit. Green Gables Country Inn owner Sarel is a most personable and accomodating host and a source of valuable local information. I can't imagine a nicer place to stay there!

We booked the same night we arrived and they had everything ready for us. The location is quiet and walking distance from restaurants and bars. The host was very kind and welcoming, I'd highly recommend this cozy spot.

I have been to McGregor a few times in the past, the last being 11 years ago.
I enjoyed the stay but felt that the area has deteriorated since my last visit.
Entrance to town messy and unkempt.
However, restaurants were good and a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary was a highlight.

Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets.
Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets. It is a sleepy town with fantastic places to eat and relax. Safe. The surrounding area of farms is verdant and beautiful. There are many many choices available for accommodation.

McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect houses and lovely places to eat. We loved eating breakfast at 51 and lunch at the Bistro on the main road. Vrolikeid Nature Reserve is a must - a well run and stunningly beautiful hiking spot offering varying length hikes. There's plenty more to do ie. pottery studios, the donkey sanctuary, so will definitely be visiting again!

A small charming village in a lovely setting.
A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

Small and wonderful village!
Small and wonderful village! I was lucky to stop there for a night and amaze by the village. There’s few bar options, wonderful restaurants (I went to the Fat Lady’s arm after my guest house owner recommended and I was not disappointed! The food was excellent and they had different choices to pleased I believe everyone!)
The morning after I was lucky to catch the Saturday morning market. Fantastic!

The house is amazing! It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. Every room is beautifully decorated, and we all slept well is the very comfy beds. It borders a reserve, so great for walks. We wish we had more time to fully experience all the amenities, and we hope another stay is on the cards in the future. Marli and Ordeal were always a call away, if we needed anything. McGregor is incredibly charming!! We loved it all!
Not only was the living space amazingly comfortable and tastefully put together, Didi is the Queen of Hosting. She was the most friendly, patient, and helpful, in terms of inviting us into her lovely space and making us feel so incredibly welcome. The amenities offered and extra little touches wrapped our stay in quaint little McGregor up so perfectly that its safe to say we will be returning very soon!
