FAQs about hotels in SeaTac

Home of the Foodie Airport

SeaTac is a small city which surrounds the airport of the same name, better known as Seattle-Tacoma Airport. It is the busiest passenger hub in the state of Washington and has the unusual distinction of having a reputation for serving good food. Its 3 parallel runways are flanked to the north and south by 2 of the city’s green parks and others are on the shores of Puget Sound, separating the city from Vashon Island.

Unsurprisingly, aviation is one of SeaTac’s biggest industries and several international airlines have their headquarters here. Much of the accommodation is also centred around the terminal buildings. Many of the hotels and cheap motels on Booking.com offer swimming pools and free airport shuttles, making that early morning departure or late night arrival so much easier.

A train links the airport directly to Seattle city centre, as does the interstate which also goes past neighbouring Tacoma. SeaTac City Hall is just off the interstate, a few streets from large Angle Lake whose calm waters are a popular spot for fishing.

To the north-west in Tukwila, the Westfield Southcenter mall is the largest shopping centre in the state and has a whole host of restaurants as well as big name brands.

    Seatac is a clusterf***.

Seatac is a clusterf***. We waited for a bus to the airport from the car rental dropoff for 20 minutes, and waited in security for an hour. Signage is poor especially for understanding where to line up for security.

New construction has made the transfers from gate to gate...

New construction has made the transfers from gate to gate difficult and time consuming. The necessary signage is sparse and vague, possibly because it is steadily changing. The walks required were significant! Critical staircases and walkways were closed for construction and it was difficult to find an alternate route. hopefully, all these problems will sort out over time, but at the moment, SeaTac is not a good traveller experience. The immense taxi fares to nearby motels almost made me choose another airport--lickily, I found that LYFT provided good service at a reasonable price. The Taxi union has really shot itself in the foot this tie. No one who can browse the web will use them.

I used to live in Seattle, but I now live in a rural area.

I used to live in Seattle, but I now live in a rural area. I do not miss the freeways and the big city atmosphere. I do like the huge variety of places to eat and visit. I visited the Ballard Locks and the Seattle waterfront area. The big Ferris wheel was fun. Parking anywhere in the city is difficult to find, and expensive.

On the plus side, the people who work there seem to be kind and helpful. I also like its access to public transportation. On the other hand, SeaTac is a very tough place to navigate, at least if you have mobility issues.

Right now SeaTac is undergoing a major remodel.

Right now SeaTac is undergoing a major remodel. If you are unfamiliar you will have trouble finding your way. And there is no help if you need it. I was trying to get to checkin with 2 bags and a pet carrier. There weren't any luggage carts. If it hadn't been for a lovely young woman helping her mother and then two construction workers who took over, I was ready to cry! They got me to checkin and an Alaska agent took over! Got my bags checked, me a wheelchair and off I went!

At the very beginning, I couldn't leave my luggage when I...

At the very beginning, I couldn't leave my luggage when I arrived at the hotel before check-in because they don't have the capacity for luggage. However, later when I asked for the second time, they asked me for $25 for that service. The hotel asks for a $50 deposit that is not prominently mentioned anywhere, but conveniently remains silent when it's time to return it. Later, when I called to pick up the deposit they didn't give me, they told me that if I don't pick it up within 24 hours, they will keep it, and I lose the right to claim my money. Because of that, I had to drive 3.5 hours from the other end of Seattle to pick up my money on the same day. I asked to have a document copied from my phone and they charged me an additional $2 for that service, for which, as usual, I didn't receive a receipt. As for breakfast, don't even get me started. If that can even be called breakfast since you get a croissant (if you catch it), a banana, and coffee or tea (it's hard to say which tastes worse). All in all, a very bad experience with this hotel, and I don't recommend it to anyone!

Beautiful place, love the free shuttles to airport and mall, loved having the bar there, very grateful to be able to store our bags at the desk while we toured around Seattle. I loved that I could login to Netflix in my room. I loved having Starbucks coffee inside the hotel.
