Great location with welcoming staff. This hotel has an apartment/hotel feel. We had a two bedroom, two bath and kitchen. Ticked all the boxes and was very central for the tourist attractions. Hotel was quiet so if you are looking for this sort of a set up then check it out.
Just 10 minutes' walk from Union Square and the Financial District, this luxury hotel offers on-site dining. A fitness centre is also available.

Best decision we ever made. We changed our hotel reservation at the last minute to stay here as we were worried about some bad reviews at the place we had originally booked. The hotel made us feel welcome, comfortable and so unbelievably well looked after. It’s in A great location, the staff are amazing and our room was incredible. As first timers in the city we couldn’t have picked a better spot. We were staying as the last leg of our trip up the coast as a family and celebrating my partners birthday. It’s a stay we’ll never forget!

We did the behind the scenes tour and it was boring.
We did the behind the scenes tour and it was boring. Not worth the money at all, they focus more on when it was a military base and not a federal prison. I’d also question the safety of people being able to walk around buildings as the guides were quick to warn us about flaking lead paint and not to touch but no mention of the potential for disturbed asbestos from the damaged walls and ceilings. Due to the age of the building I’d say it would be present.
If you do go, do the self guided tour

Great trip out.
Great trip out. If I remember rightly They may not take Ames cards. The boat comes in slowly to the rock and is regular. There is audio directions as you go round for free and it was really interesting the diverse population imprisoned there and the statistics were amazing. Really informative.

You can use the museum audio or your own telephone with a QR code if you do this take your own headphones for comfort. Go really early before the crowds. You can’t eat on the island. Know as much as you can before arriving it will enhance your visit

The audio tour is great!
The audio tour is great! Everyone can enjoy this tour at his own pace. Also there are Park Rangers that will tell you more amazing stories about different aspects of the island and it's buildings.

7-10 minute walk to pier 33 (Alcatraz) and pier 39 where there are lots of restaurants/shops/street entertainment and a great view of Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge.
Clean hotel with very helpful and friendly staff.
Beds extremely comfortable, good powerful shower and the complimentary shower gel/shampoo/conditioner smelt divine ! Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
Location is really convenient, 5 minutes walk to pier 39. Modern, comfortable hotel.

We loved the location very much. Its close to Fisherman’s Wharf. We felt safe to walk in the area at Night too. You Can see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from the windows in the room. There is a free breakfast, which is a really nice option. They serve great coffee, which you Can enjoy while you enjoy the view. People were friendly. There was a good Vibe at the hostel. We didnt experienced to wait for the bathroom.
The location was great and convenient for pier 39 and ferry to Alcatraz. We loved all the extras at this hotel - we borrowed bikes for 4 hours to bike the bridge. We also enjoyed the milk and cookies hour and appreciated the free postcard postal service.
The location was perfect for the activities we had planned for. Pier 39,Alcatraz and riding the Golden Gate Bridge.
Plenty of bar restaurant and transport options near our hotel.
Our room facilities were very good with soft bedding a decent shower and daily room servicing.
It’s a great location for North Beach and The Financial District. And a 25 minute walk to the piers for Alcatraz and trips around the bay. It’s a decent, basic hotel.
The accommodation is recently renovated and is very comfortable. The apartment was very generous in size with a full kitchen, lounge room and bedroom. There is a self service laundry at reception The location was easy walking distance to Pier 39 and Cable cars right outside the door. The rooftop terrace is the perfect place for evening drinks and watching the sunset over Alcatraz.

Number 1 attraction is Alcatraz and you can't come here without visiting. Amazing experience. However this was probably surpassed by cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and taking the ferry back. You will get amazing photos of the bridge doing it this way. World Series Baseball was on during our trip to California which San Francisco were in and eventually won which added an extra buzz to the city. In our time in San Francisco the Giants were in Kansas but the whole city was alive with Giants talk. Buy a MUNI visitor passport. At the start of the day you'll want to walk everywhere but those hills take their toll and you'll be glad you can jump on any bus, streetcar or cable car later in the day

Try the Big Bus an excellent way to see this large and varied city. Try later in the year the weather is good and the summer travellers will have gone home. A trip to Alcatraz island is worth the time but book before you arrive to avoid disappointment. If the crowds overwhelm you head for the Haight or the Golden Gate park where there is space for all.

Alcatraz is the most prominent tourist thing to do but if you don't want to spend an afternoon there, or tickets are sold out (get them in advance btw), just waking along the pier there is loads to see. If you only have a few days there, a good way to see the city is the bus tours.
