Its subject matter may be dark and disturbing, but the Amsterdam Dungeon’s interactive exhibits are anything but tortuous – so long as you enjoy being horrified and fascinated in equal measure. You can expect films and re-enactments about the dastardly Spanish Inquisition, recreations of crude 18th-century medical procedures and live demonstrations of medieval torture devices. Ouch!
