Art Hotel Osaka Bay Tower, hotel in Osaka

Ideally located in the Osaka Bay district of Osaka, Art Hotel Osaka Bay Tower is located a 5-minute walk from Minato Kumin Center, 0.4 miles from Isoji Central Park and 1.2 miles from Aeon Mall Osaka...

We loved the location of the hotel -right next to both the Japan Rail train station and the Osaka Metro line. It made getting around so easy and convenient. Everything you could need is within walking distance to the hotel. There is a Family Mart right outside one of the entrances to the Art Hotel. There are several restaurants within the hotel as well with wonderful food and are great value for money. We loved having a French Bakery right next the hotel as well. We loved our room which was a Family Room which had 2 double beds and bunks for the kids in their own separate space. The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help. Overall this was a wonderful hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Compared to Tokyo, Osaka has more large buildings.

Compared to Tokyo, Osaka has more large buildings. There are many tourist spots in the center so it's full with people. If you like busy city, I think you will like Osaka. The roads are very busy in the center but are silencer on the outside. I wish I can have more time to explore.

Osaka is a huge and modern city but still plenty of interest for tourists. Osaka Castle is the undoubted highlight, but the island and riverside walks near City Hall were lovely and there are still lots of small temples and other historic buildings to seek out amongst all the spectacular modern architecture. Public transport is excellent.

For me (a person who was born, raised and lives in large metropolitan cities in the US) I don't particularly find Osaka to be a very compelling place beyond its food culture and a few standout landmarks. Those looking for the theme park experiences and nightlife scene that are concentrated here will likely disagree. I don't really like to shop extensively and while I'm definitely into food culture - I found it hard to find unique food experiences here without a local guide or a fellow traveler friend to explore. Maybe that has more to do with me than the city (my language skills aren't strong enough IMO to make it easy to converse with strangers in Japanese). It was a solid city to start and end my journey based on where I spent most of my time - but I don't feel super compelled to want to stay for days on end and would prefer Kyoto for a base in the region.

We visited the Golden Palace, and spent a great afternoon walking around the surrounding gardens. We went to Universal studios which was very much the same as anywhere else in the world with the exception the shows are totally in Japanese. We went specifically to see Hogwarts and Harry Potter world only to be told that tours of the school ceased at the end of December so it was only a ride and I don't do rides so never got to see that which was very disappointing. We did get a butter beer and went to Olivanders to get a wand. Don't get the interactive one if it's really busy lines are too long to do most of the things. We went to a couple of nice restaurants. It was an interesting place to visit and we walked a lot of it in the time we were there.

I first came here in 1986 and have travelled to and lived...

I first came here in 1986 and have travelled to and lived here for a number of years since. It was a beautiful city, hardly a tourist or foreigner in sight and the locals would go out of there way to help you if needed. The main attreactions are all still here, but at any time of the day or night it is a fight to move through the throngs of tourists. The shops are now oriented to tourism and hence are full are cheap crap and the food prices are through the roof. Even slightly out of the way places like Tennoji and Tsuruhashi are like this now. For value for money for and shopping, try and get away from the areas that are obviously touristy. Don't buy the takoyaki (octopus balls) from anywhere in the Namba area unless you see locals buying them, not that they eat them that much. Don't be on of those tourists who eat, drink, smoke, spit, talk too loudly on the street. There's already enough of them here now.

The location is perfect, right beside Kuromon market, 3 mins walk to Nippombashi station, 10 min walk to Namba-Dotonbori, a 7/11 accross the street what more can you ask for? The reception are extremely helpful. They even have free candy at the lobby and own vending machine. The room size is perfect for solo travellers, maybe a couple but dont bring a huge luggage cause then there will be no room to walk. I guess it's pretty usual for hotel room sizes all over Japan.
