Incredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable!
The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for.
The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely.
Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.

Location. Close to bus stop 8. In front of all the temples and 15 min from the abyss and 5 min from the Shinkyo bridge.

Osen clean and organised. Remember to read up on how to use an Osen, as there are no instructions.

We tried the traditional breakfast for 1600¥, very filling, but review before buying if you have particular tastes.
The room was comfortable, with a fridge, kettle, and space to sit and enjoy the views.
The hikes are amazing.
Buying the 2 day Nikko bus pass is worth it, as distances are long.
You don't need to go into the temples to see them, just walk around the forest, and you will see and get great photos without having to pay to enter.
