Facing onto the Grand Canal, the House of Gold got its name from the gilt which formerly adorned its exterior. What the Ca’ d’Oro now lacks in lustre, it makes up for in historic beauty, with a fabulous 15th-century Gothic façade and a mosaic-covered courtyard. The museum within houses a collection of Venetian and Tuscan paintings, sculpture and ceramics.
