Loved our stay at Sel - Hotel Mývatn. The rooms were extremely cosy, and the beds were very comfortable. The pool table and dartboard were good fun.
We enjoyed a fabulous evening meal at their buffet table, and the following morning, the breakfast was equally delicious. A good stay.

How can you not love a place with a superb restaurant serving food from the farm, and having windows into the cowshed, and visitors are invited to pat the cows. Brilliant. Delightful. Food in Iceland is underwhelming, but I ordered the “farm special” and it was superb. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were exceptional, whether it was the kind young woman in the cowshed indulging my questions, or the serving staff. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Myvatn Nature Baths
Just an hour’s drive east of Akureyri, this wetland reserve is a hotbed of volcanic activity, from bubbling mud pits to lava formations. Myvatn Lake’s waters are a haven for wading birds, with more duck species found here than anywhere else on Earth. The lake’s name translates as ‘midge water’, and for good reason – be sure to bring insect repellent if you visit!

We went to several nature baths and this was the worse.
We went to several nature baths and this was the worse. It is a very old and dated facility (they are in the process of building a new facility) and it smelled horribly of sulphur. We stayed for 30 min total.

Provided us with fan to cool off room.
Followed up on a billing question related to Myvatn Nature Baths after we checked out (could easily ignore clarification request after the fact).
Reclaimed and repurposed items as part of their lobby decor.
Nice cafe and coffee shop beside the lobby.
An excellent place to stay next to Lake Myvatn. Located close to Hverir geothermal area and Myvatn Nature Baths (well worth a visit). The restaurant here is superb and the buffet breakfast the best we had in Iceland with meats and cheeses etc. from the farm (there is a very strong farm to plate ethic going on here). The room itself was well sized but cozy and warm (it was minus 13 in the morning so this was important!). Plus you can go and pet the cows and calves!
The restaurant and the close location to the Myvatn Nature Baths, both must go to places!
Nice, spacious space, we fitted in the 3 beds with our 2 boys. Lovely.
Good location to stay for 3 days and explore the area and visiting for example Dettifoss, Myvatn Nature Baths, Husavik, Krafla, Dimmuborgir and Godafoss.
Pizza restaurant nearby
The location is perfect, close to Mývatn Nature Baths. The view is superb, and the Hverfell volcano is just outside the window. Thanks for providing us with so much info about nearby attractions and activities. The receptionists are warmhearted, and the instructions for the room are very clear.
Hotel has a hot tub, free to guests, although we didn't use it. Good breakfast and plenty of free car parking. There are walks you can do from the hotel and it is directly opposite the lake and a short drive from the Myvatn Nature Baths
Centrally located guesthouse in the middle of Myvatn, looking out on Hverfjall, with Dimmuborgir lava fields, Grjótágja and the Myvatn nature baths at stones throw distance. Facilities are in good shape and clean, there is a large communal area, with an also large, well organized kitchen. you can self check-in by means of a pin-code. There is a pizza restaurant on the terrain, and at the farm resort across the road there is a very good restaurant.
The room was simple but clean, warm, cosy-looking, and comfortable. The beds were great and we slept very well! The location was fantastic - only a short drive from Myvatn Nature Baths. Most wonderful of all was the food! The breakfast was fantastic with a wide range of high-quality options. We also had dinner there and omg - the food was incredibly delicious. The geyser bread, butter, beef carpaccio, lamb soup, and lamb of the day were all amazing. The lamb portion was also really generous. We really, really enjoyed it.
The location was perfect after my family enjoyed bath in Myvatn Nature Baths till late evening. The interior design of the hotel was very unique and creative. The bed and linen was so comfy that we could have a good rest. The breakfast was delicious and we could try islandic food. The setting of food was really neat and hygenic.
