Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.

Many Sanur bars are expat type places, where you can strike up some good conversations. The dining choices in Sanur are incredible from warung to fine dining, from beach locations to Jalans and Gang eating. I think Sanur probably suits a more mature traveller rather than nightclubbing hard out party goers. I have graduated from Kuta Legian stays to Sanur and will definitely be back.

Sanur has a good range of restaurants, salons and shops.
Perfect for travel to Nusa Penida. Ubud is a hike from most places.
A bit far if you want to spend a lot of time in Kuta, Canggu etc. Kids spent an hour or so in taxis getting to clubs over there.

Sanur is our favourite Bali destination.
Sanur is our favourite Bali destination. There's plenty of restaurants and warungs to suit all budgets. There's less traffic than most other tourist hot spots so crossing the road is a lot easier. It's a great area for couples and families who don't like the party scene in Kuta, Legian, Seminyak and Canguu. The walkway along the beach is good for excellent. There's plenty of shade at the restaurants on the beach.
Sanur is the most peaceful, stunning place and Tandjung Sari is definitely the jewel in the crown! Very unique Balinese bungalows with its own pool and private beachfront. The attention to detail is fabulous and the staff are dedicated to delivering an amazing level of hospitality and truly make the holiday! My husband had his birthday on our trip and the hotel made a wonderful celebration dinner for him! incredible!
Everything, we were greeted by the lovely Darmi, she made us welcome from the minute we arrived. The staff are all very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The hotel is kept to a very high standard, the location is perfect . I can't stress enough to have a stay here . Thankfully we chose this as our last stay after touring Bali and Gilli Islands . Sanur it self is a great place with a nice vibe .
everything was perfect, one of the best hotels in Sanur.
Before making the booking I had doubts reading the reviews, but after my stay I can say that the complaints are completely unreasonable! Great location, great breakfast, cleaning is on highest standard, amazing pool and beach amenities.
The location on the beach is excellent! The staff at this traditional Balinese hotel are very friendly and helpful. The walking/bike track is between the hotel and the beach.
There are hotels and restaurants all the way along.
