At the moment many of the old buildings including the cathedral are closed to the public and undergoing restoration. A consequence of a serious earthquake a few years ago. But restoration work is likely to take years. But the city is enjoyable to wander around even if you only see the outside.

Unfriendly personnel denied the access explained that it was meant for local community. Should have had a subsequent reference at the welcome booklets to avoid wasting the time and energy to get there.

The cathedral and all the churches are closed for renovations which made us travel other neighbouring cities to enjoy site seeing. The exterior was nice but it was a big let down not being able to visit such a beautiful place and other places in Zagreb because of these works going on.

Seen from almost everywhere in Zagreb.
Seen from almost everywhere in Zagreb. Undergoing major external renovations but still accessible within. Worth more than just one look. The surrounding area is full of good, cheap cafes, museums and just ordinary people worthy of meeting. Lovely people, even the souvenir purveyors were honest about their own goods lacking in authenticity...and would not besmirch the others plying their trade. Go anytime of day or night and just look up, around, down and every-else. Don't forget to light a candle. as you enter, as we would like the cathedral to stay standing for a good while longer.

The property is closed to very famous places like Zagreb Cathedral and city center. The receptionist was very welcoming. Also, the Air conditioning was working well.
The room was spacious, updated and clean. They supplied city maps and brochures in different languages, including English. It was very quiet too! Igor was a fantastic host. It was near bakeries and not far from the plaza (about .7 miles to Zagreb Cathedral) It was also very close to a relative we were visiting, making it a perfect location-so we walked everywhere even though the tram stop was right near our building.
