Nice but somewhat disappointing because there's actually not much to see. It is more the suggestion than a view of what it was.
In summer months, it is highly recommended to visit the site early morning because it gets really, really hot.

Glad I visited heraklion museum first to see the real artifacts. Feel like the original dig would have looked very different to what Arthur Evans created. Still very interesting. We downloaded a free audio guide on our mobiles, so we could go at our own pace. Brought a sandwich and water.

It was awesome with a private guide that we had. Lots of signage for the sites that you see there, but get a good guide if you can.
Also, get there as early as possible. Even in late September, it was getting really crowded by late morning.

Most of monuments were restored by an archeologist (!?)
Most of monuments were restored by an archeologist (!?) almost 100 year ago. He used his imagination and reinforced concrete, not knowing ancient art at all. Even paintings are fake.
Anyway, Crete is a beautiful island, rich of history and beautiful nature

Not worth the effort.
Not worth the effort. The place looks more like a mad architect's dream than authentic ruins - none of the reconstructions are authentic and whatever the guides tell you in the end it always turns out that we in fact have no idea what was what among the ruins. The crowds don't make it any more pleasant and the ticket prices are ridiculous compared to what you get (if you buy tickets via Google Maps, it's cheaper). I was really keen on exploring Minoan architecture but what you see at Knossos is more a product of vivid Victorian imagination than actual Minoan culture.

The location was perfect
Our arrival was late in the evening and the hotel was only a ten-minute drive away from the airport
The process of checking in late was easy and included convenient parking
Next day morning, another ten minutes driving distance to the palace of Knossos
Lovely staff, particularly the breakfast staff. Very attentive. Pool was a huge bonus due to the heat. Pool staff also excellent. Could catch a bus to the palace of Knossos around 20 minutes away.
The property was very clean and comfortable, all amenities provided were exceptional. Parking is easy and the neighborhood is very quiet. Everything you need is in walking distance. The location is ideal if you plan to visit the town of Heraklion, the palace of Knossos and other significant locations. Host also provided fruit, wine and other locale produce, was very friendly and helpful in everything we needed.
