room2 Southampton Hometel, hotel in Southampton

Featuring a fitness centre and a shared lounge, room2 Southampton is situated in Southampton, 1.2 km from Southampton Guildhall and 1.4 km from The Mayflower Theatre.

It had such excellent facilities. From check in it was all great. We arrived late at 10pm and check in was completed by a very accommodating receptionist. Nothing was too much. The room was absolutely fabulous, everything you needed and more. So quirky, stylish, thoughtful and trendy! The bar area was fantastic, excellent atmosphere, lighting, music and wine. The range of items you could purchase was also of a high standard, what more could anyone ask for. We had the best nights sleep and woke refreshed and ready for the day ahead, my son was starting his training as an air traffic controller and this was the perfect stay for him to relax and ready himself before he started. The best thing of all was the 24 hour stay, so cool, so inspired and so relaxed. No stress about checking out early which made it the perfect stay. At other hotels I always feel pressured by checking out at 11am, so this was my heaven! I cannot fault Room 2, it was perfect in every way…..thank you so much……kind regards….Darren & Jude 😎

Harbour Hotel & Spa Southampton, hotel in Southampton

Situated in Southampton in the Hampshire Region, Harbour Hotel & Spa Southampton is just 1.7 km from Southampton Guildhall. The hotel's spa facilities include a hot tub, pool and sauna.

It was disappointing for a 5 star hotel. I had to ask if someone could help me with my luggage. The room smelled awful even though it looked clean. I thought I booked a room with a view on the website but no view when I got there. I asked for an upgrade, needless to say, they wanted to charge me, so I said, no thanks. The staff tried their best, you can tell. They put me in a room opposite a lift, which the next morning, there were banging noises since 6am! So me trying to have a rest turns into being waking up every ten mins. The afternoon tea was disappointing, there were no choice of sandwiches, just curry floured mixed fillings and tiny models of mixed chocolate items, but most were too sweet, and too lemony as if they were left overs. I missed my fresh cucumber and smoke salmon sandwiches! The scorns were hard as if stale. The waiter tried his best and very kind. Dinner, well, as if I am in a hotel café with restaurant reservations, they didn’t asked me if I wanted tap water and assumed I would have bottle water to which they charged like a 5 stars hotel price of nearly £6 for a medium size bottle of water, I was disappointed to say the least, service charge was 12%, the serve was like a normal cafe, nothing special, and I had two oysters in tempura but it was hard crested batter not tempura, and the same for fish and chips, the cod was thin with thick batter. I thought for a 5 star restaurant/cafe, I expected a top class cook and service but it was worse than a good fish and chips take away, the chips, well, it was hard and tasted like frozen or overnight ones and some even had black bits in! Obviously I didn’t leave a tip! The waiters were kind enough. Parking was £18 for the day with vat. Not even the full 24hrs. Swimming pool? It was a tiny pool! Didn’t go in, too many people trying to have a dip with their kids. Kid’s pool really for a five star hotel….
