Fantastic hotel and fantastic staff! I booked the Hapimag as part of my partner's birthday night in Edinburgh. I asked the staff if they could kindly leave some flowers and chocolates in the room as a small surprise, and they went out their way to leave a lovely bunch of flowers, nice chocolates and a card.
The suite was spotless and well worth the money. We also like the honesty box approach to drinks and snacks which we used later in the evening. We will definitely book here again!

Edinburgh Castle
Stretching down almost 100 feet, this tree-like coral shelf lies in the middle of a beautiful garden of gorgonians. It’s in these plants that the rare pygmy seahorse makes its home – so Amed Wall is your best shot of catching a glimpse. Reef sharks and sea turtles also roam these waters, so there’s no shortage of deep-sea wonders to check out.

Love it!
Love it! Took us longer than anticipated to walk around due to the crowds, in September. We pre-purchased out tickets for 11 a.m. thinking we'd end with the 1 p.m. gun salute. However, earlier crowds were still there at 11 a.m. and it just got busier and busier. It became tough to really enjoy the exhibits and the interior rooms got quite warm (it was wet the day we were there so we were carrying jackets). There were also lines to get into various spaces. When we left at 2 p.m. the line ups to get in were wild and I can't imagine what their experience would have been like.
I would highly recommend getting your tickets in advance for the earlier time slots, if you really want to enjoy the exhibits around the castle.

Not the most interesting castle. Fabulous views of the city.
Not the most interesting castle. Fabulous views of the city. Most of the interior has been stripped. The Crown jewels were absolutely nothing compared to The Tower of London exhibition. Very unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies all cobbles and slopes. Difficult with a stick. All in all a bit of a tourist trap all around the area.

We saw Edinburgh Castle on our last trip but there is always something new to see. Look for the room with the tapestries hanging from the wall - they took 13.5 years to complete. Missed that last time. There is a lot to see.

This was my second time visiting Edinburgh Castle. The first time I did an audio tour and this time signed up for a guided tour. Both work, but the tour lead by a guide was really great, though more expensive.

During our visit, there was an event happening close to the castle. The infrastructure took them more that two weeks to disassemble so the main route to the castle was blocked during our entire visit and it wasn't possible to see the main entrance. Moreover, many locals told us the trip inside they castle is a bit overhyped.

Fabulous history and views. make a reservation and go early. the Hop on Hop off bus is perfect for getting around Edinburgh easily. Make reservations for dinner as all pubs and restaurants are booked up early.
The Grassmarket Hotel is in a great location- easily walkable to The Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. There are also some tasty restaurants right on the same street. My room was small but comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. A bunch of steps to my room though so not accessible. There was also a great breakfast available for a modest extra charge.
Location, The Hotel is 5min walking distance to Edinburgh castle and 2min from the start of the Royal Mile. It's also on Victoria Street where you will find a lot of restaurants, pubs and unique shops.
The location cannot be beat! A 5 minute walk from Edinburgh Castle but not in the thick of it like the major hotels. Lots of restaurants and shopping close by. Bus from the airport drops you right there. Jacuzzi was very nice, fits two people. Don’t skip the complimentary minced pie - it was good!
The you tube video to demonstrate the entrance to the apartment was super helpful. The location was amazing. Right at the base of the Edinburgh castle and close to Waverly train station. The kitchen had everything we needed.
The hotel itself is really cosy and beautiful. Our room was on the 4th floor and we had great views of the Edinburgh Castle. Not too big but really a nice room. Breakfast was also very complete and good.
Staff was exceptional all the time. Kind and helpful. Definitely the best. Thank you!
Very nice hotel for short stay. Excellent for its price. Location is very good, very close to tram and train station. Short walk to city center. Scott Monument or Edinburgh Castle is approximately 15 mins walk.
I loved that the whole apartment and specially the kitchen was well equipped so we managed to save some money by cooking meals there instead of eating out everyday. The location was great!!Edinburgh Castle and other main attractions in the city are within a walkable distance, and there’s a Sainsbury’s just around the corner where you can buy everything you need to cook etc. The staff were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 experience!
The rooms were really need and up to standard. The bathrooms were plenty spacious with lots of places to move around. The beds really comfy, and pillows were really nice to sleep on. The hotel staff was also very helpful, generous and really friendly. 10/10 would recommend. Lots of shops nearby - Tesco, Boots, Sainsbury's and a few more boutique shop for exploring, so very convenient. Old Town, Victoria Street and even the Edinburgh Castle, are all very walkable. Lots of food places nearby as well.
What an amazing hotel! Our room had balcony with an amazing Edinburgh castle view!
Room was so big and comfortable, also clean. Bathroom was also big with both shower and bath.
Staff was great too!! Very supportive and always smile on their faces☺️
We had breakfast at the hotel which was full of options and all delicious.
I will stay at this hotel whenever I visit beautiful Edinburgh!
I liked the multiple areas of the room; bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room area. I liked the location of the hotel, the street, the proximity to Waverly Station and Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street Gardens. Loved the floral clock in the gardens, see it from July until October, beautiful. Plus, the little café in lobby was always hopping and very convenient.
