The house time forgot dilapidated grandeur makes this one of the most interesting National Trust properties. if its just to see what happens when a house decays (although managed) its an eyeopener and the grounds are lovely too The cafe is also dog friendly

Interesting place as it's not been renovated and has been kept as it was when handed over to the National Trust in the 1980's. Walk through the survants tunnels under the house and in the garden.

    It's an unusual stately home.

It's an unusual stately home. Unrestored it presents a different view to other restored NT properties yet has plenty of things to view and admire. The grounds are lovely. The history of the grand house intriguing. There's also a very good eatery (not restaurant, not cafe but between) that serves local produce lovely meals at a reasonable price.
